The problem based on the model number is in or around the red picture tube---the bright red screen causes the set to draw too much current and the shutdown circuit detects this and turns set off--self protection.
Each picture tube (3) has a IC chip on the board connected to it--shorted chip or bad picture tube.
Sounds like the red CRT is defective. But could be the red drive circuit also. If you turn the color level to zero is the picture red or black and white. If the red/orange is still there i would suggest its the red CRT. I have a source for Phillips CRTs that cost 135.00 with free shipping. same problem. TV turns on but no picture or sound. when i press power button on the remote control orange light flashes for about a minute and goes back to red.
