My nikon flash 600 will not flash anymore it turns on but wont charge to flash ( ready light never comes on ) Ive tried everything like new batteries , trying it on and off camera but it wont work

Hi grwcamp, Sorry to hear about it not working at the graduation. Are in the correct position (I am sure you did but, we must start someplace). Look inside, see if there is battery acid in there.
If with new/fresh batteries it still does not work call Nikon. You have a warranty on it so it should be covered.

there's a part in inside that triggers the light .. it might need to be fixed.
Please contact Nikon Tech Support to walk you through resetting the flash.
a. Have you tried that? it's in the Manual

Looks like the condenser is not charging. Oscillator section, transformer, transistor has to be checked.

Is the flash powering on?
Are the batteries installed correctly?
Try a fresh set of batteries.
If that does not work, you will need to send it in for service.

check wire connection to capacitor measure voltage on it/
Be carefull high voltage!!!

Hi, Bad news for you.

Try this.

1. put new batteries in flash.
2. turn flash on off camera.
3. listen for capacitor to squeal (high pitched whistle). If you hear it it is charging. If not capacitor is bad.
4. Also should see flash ready light come on. If it does not same as #3 above.
5. If you pass #3 & 4# above press manual flash/check/test button on flash. No flash means bulb is out. It can be replaced.

Check that all the batteries are functioning properly, and that they have been inserted in the proper direction.

Trigger coil or a flash tube. Flash tube is easier to replace so try to replace that first. Caution before you do anything else when you open the unit locate the main 330v capacitor and discharge it before you work on the unit !
