2005 pontiac GTO - Oil change light came on. I change the oil and filter, it took almost seven Quarts. Drain it by jacking up the left side, right side and back of car. I then tried to reset the the change oil light by turning on the key, pressing the gas pedal to the floor slowly twice in five seconds many many times. Change oil light still on. Hmmm? Then tried to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and pressing the break pedal for thirty seconds. Change oil light still on. Then disconnected the battery for five minutes, change oil light still on. Hmmm? My car has 7,883 miles on it and looks and smells like brand new, in&out and under. The car is spotless. Could this be the sensor and where do I find it. Your help is welcome. Thanks Mark

No need to fear, this is a common problem. all you need to do is turn the key to the on position, push the pedal three times, then turn key to the off lock position. this is a typo in the manual. not sure why they have not corrected this issue. hope this helps.

Oil change procedure

For the 3.8L, the oil filter is right underneath the engine near the front bumper. Really easy to get to. So, this a general procedure which applies to most oil changes as well:
What you need: new oil filter, 6 quarts of 5w20 oil (the vehicle calls for 5, but, it's always helpful to have a bit extra just in case), socket wrench and socket set, a car lift or a jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks, one can of brake clearner, a shop towel, a little bit of time, and a little arm muscle.
***It is best to let the vehicle cool before doing this. Hot oil hurts!!!
1) Open the hood, take the oil cap off and put somewhere where you won't lost it!2) Either put the car on a lift if you have access to one or dot he following: have the vehicle on a level surface, place chocks or something similar behind the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward, jack the car up, place jack stands under secure spots under the vehicle, slowly let the jack down letting the vehicle rest on the jack stands (if you are unsure on where to place jack stands, best to spend a few bucks to have a shop do the oil change).3) Have a large pan or container ready for the oil to drain into.4) Use a socket wrench (I cannot recall the size needed for the Pacificas) to take the drain plug off of the oil pan. Slowly take the drain plug out so you can also make sure the pan is going to catch the oil.5) Let the oil drain for about 5 to 10 minutes and put the drain plug back in. It doesn't need to be Superman tight!!! It needs to be snug. 6) Spray some brake cleaner on the oil pan where there is oil and wipe off with the shop towel. Be very careful not to get brake cleaner in your eyes. It burns. 'Nuff said.7) Now, the oil filter is not at an angle. It's on the engine straight. What this means is when you take it off, it will go down the sides of the filter and down your hand and arm. However, still has to come off. Reposition the oil pan under where the oil filter is. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. 8) Use the brake cleaner to clean the area where the oil filter went. Wipe off with towel. After wiping, some oil will continue to drip. 9) Take some oil and put some in the oil filter, tilt the filter and let it soak up all or most of what you poured in. Also, with your finger, run some oil around the gasket on the oil filter. 10) Put the oil filter back on the vehicle. Remember, this also does not have to be Superman tight, just very snug. The tighter you put it on, it will be that much harder to take it off next time.11) Now, with the oil pan drain plug and oil filter back in place, put the jack underneath the car, jack it up and remove the jack stands, and lower the vehicle down OR lower the car if it is on a lift. 12) Pour in the rest of the quart of oil from the open bottle that you used to pour a little bit of oil in to the filter with and pour in 4 more quarts of oil after that. 13) Pull the dipstick and wipe clean. Put the dipstick back in and pull back out to check the oil level. If a little more oil is needed you should have that extra quart. If needed, put a little more in and recheck.14) Replace oil cap after oil level is correct. 15) Turn on the car and let it idle for about 5 minutes. 16) Recheck the oil level (which there should be no issue with it).
Done!

How do i change the oil in my 1994 buick park ave

first you will check your owners manual for the required specification of what weight ( 10w30) oil to use and then the fill capacity.( 5.quarts ) also the auto parts store will tell you those as well. I always buy one extra quart. Once you have oil and filter, warm car up for 3-5 minutes, (this will help oil drain faster and easier) once car is warm shut of motor, block rear wheels jack the front of car up enough to slide under it. BLOCK car or support with jack stands.put a drain pan under car, remove the oil drain plug on the bottom or side of the oil pan.( make sure your catch pan will hold at least 6-7 quarts of fluid. once oil has stopped draining replace drain plug, now remove the oil filter, unscrew counterclockwise, lube new oil filter seal with oil, screw on to oil housing clockwise rotation, hand tighten. fill motor with oil to recommended fill capacity.start car , check for leaks around filter, if no leaks shut car off and lower car to ground, check oil on dipstick and wipe off, insert and check again, fill to fill line on dipstik and your done.

How do I change the oil on a Porsche 911 Turbo? Anything I sould know?

  • Jack up your Porsche using a floor jack and place the car securely on jack stands at all four corners using the factory jacking points.
  • 2 Place an oil container under the oil drain plug of the motor.
  • 3 Using an 8-mm allen socket, remove the drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan.
  • 4 Let the oil drain thoroughly--this will take about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • 5 Once all the oil is drained from the engine, install a new drain plug along with a new aluminum sealing washer. Tighten the drain plug to 37 lbs .

  • The oil filter cartridge is located in front of the oil pan on the right side. With an oil filter removal wrench, unscrew and remove the cartridge. Be careful of spilling oil.
  • Install a new oil filter cartridge and O-ring. Before installation, run a bead of oil around the O-ring to lubricate it. Torque the oil filter cartridge to 19 lbs.
  • Pour new oil into the oil filler neck located in the engine bay. 1998 to 2001 911s (996) take 8.5 quarts, and 2004 and up take 8.25 quarts. Newer 911s (997) take 9 quarts. When filling the engine with oil, pour in 8 quarts and then use the dipstick to get the amount of oil exact.
  • Lower the car off the jackstands.

2005 gto burning oil. I happened to check it before getting oil changed at scheduled 5K interval nd realized I was down 2 quarts. It is not smoking or running bad so no symptoms to draw any conclusions...

Look on the ground where you park it. That much oil has to be a leak. Don't let it get 2 quarts down. Check it more often. Use thicker oil. Like 10-40 instead of 5-30. You could even try 20-50.

    97 honda accord lx 4cyl

When you say fluid ... I assume you talking about the oil and oil filter.
If you changing oil here are the steps :
1> Jack up the car, make sure you do not put the jack on the oil pan as it is most likely it will damage the oil pan.. rather put it on the frame which is little bit to the left of the oil pan. Trace the bolt to the rear of the oil pan.. I believe it is a 17mm bolt. Place the oil pan under the bolt and take the bolt off. Almost all your oil will drain out here. Make sure the oil cap on top of the valve cover is taken off.
2> About 10 inches to the top of the oil pan bolt .. you will find the oil filter. Usually you should be able to remove it with your hand, rotating it in an anticlockwise direction. The rest of the oil will drain out here.. so adjust the oil catcher pan accordingly.
3> Take the new oil filter and apply some of the old oil on the rubber gasket of the oil filter and tighten it back up in clock wise direction.
4>Tighten the bolt to the oil pan and lower the car from the jack or jack stand for easier access.
5> Put in 4 quarts of 5W30 or 10 W 40 through the oil cap on the valve cover.
6> Wait a few minutes and pull the car back a few feet. Check for leaks and you should be good to go.
