JVC EVERIO HYBRID GZ-MG330 Battery error?

Don't know if it's the contacts on the battery or the contacts on the camcorder.
When you connect the battery, it keeps coming up on the screen COMMUNICATION ERROR.

Sometimes the message CHECK LENS COVER flashes when you first turn the power on.

Everything works fine when you use internal power.

JVC GZ-MG20 communicating error when turning on

  • miken515 Oct 26, 2008

The battery that came with the camera works fine as does the DC power. I purchased a larger battery as a spare. After charging the battery it's giving me this error message. Just bought the whole set-up so I'm just starting to look into the problem.

Same exact problem. It WAS working at one point, so perhaps I need to clean battery sensors. I'll post a message if I figure something out.

I just bought a replacement data battery BN-VF-808U from Digicowfish through Amazon.com. (?made by PomerPower).
It fits nciely to my JVC Everio GZ-MG330 which uses a BN-VF808U data battery. However, JVC gives a screen message:Communicating Error.

Now I have solved my Communication Error by using a jumper cable provided with the replacement battery BN-VF808U to connect the attached replacement battery to the camcorder. There is a DC input socket on the camcorder. There is also a DC input socket on the replacement battery for direct connection.

Problem I had this same problem with the JVC Everio GZ-MG21U. I have been using an aftermarket battery and it has been working fine. Just recently I had a communication error show up between the battery and the camera. I couldn't get any of the four batteries I had to work (two JVC and two aftermarket long life large batteries).
Solution I used camera lens cleaning solution and a cleaning cloth to clean the terminals on the camcorder itself, as well as the battery. I have tried three battery packs so far and charged two of them fully. It seems to have solved the problem.

Your camcorder might have an internal problem. As long as you know that your battery is charged and working properly. To make sure you can connect your camcorder directly with the power supply and try to turn your camera on. If that still doesn't work i would contact manufacture and hopefully the camera is still under warranty. They will help you further.

Well the first thing I would do is recommend you send your unit in for service as you may end up doing more harm then good. You can call and get free estimates on what this may cost. If you need any further assistance or help locating a service center let me know.

Auto power off

Link to user manual

No you can't turn off this feature

Nathan Petersen June 17th, 2005, 04:03 PM Is there away to turn the auto power off off. I dont think there is, just thought I'd ask, thanks. Don Palomaki June 17th, 2005, 08:47 PM Not on the original XL1. It will drop into STANDBY from PAUSE if there is a tape in the transport after around 5 minutes. If there is NOT a tape in the camcorder it will not not drop into STANDBY but will remain operating as a camera. Xander Christ June 17th, 2005, 09:25 PM Canon suggests that the only way to keep the XI from shutting off is to use the AC adapter as the power source, not the battery. I haven't tried it, so I don't know if it's true. Don Palomaki June 18th, 2005, 07:33 AM True - in that when using the battery, the camcorder will shut down when the battery runs out of available charge. However, using the A/C adapter does not prevent the XL1 from going into standby if a tape is in the camcorder. Nathan Petersen June 18th, 2005, 04:52 PM Canon suggests that the only way to keep the XI from shutting off is to use the AC adapter as the power source, not the battery. No it still does it with the AC adapter, Im not even using the battery. It makes no sense to have the auto power off when shooting indoors while using the AC adapter, its just stupid. Don Palomaki June 19th, 2005, 05:59 AM Again, the key point is having a tape in the XL1. After about 5 minuts it goes into Standby mode (not the same as turning the power off with the dial). This is a carryover from pure consumer camcorders - to save battery and reduce damage to tape and head wear from a camcorder left in pause mode for a long time.

Pro users complained, so the XL1s had an option to disable this feature so that only the tape transport (VCR portion) is turned off after 5 minutes, the camera head continues to run. link to above thread

I just bought my 11 year old an ultra hd 2 hr flip video, we cannot even get it to power on, any suggestions?

You need to first Charge your camcorder battery pack.(mine had to charge over night) the first time.  Plug the little arm that extends from the camera into a USB 2 port on your computer and make sure your computer stays ON during the charging, otherwise the camcorder will not charge.

A red light will come on during charge and goes off when charged. If it does not come while plugged in try a different USB port.  Screen should light up temporarily and Red light showing charging on front of camcorder.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE THE ABOVE, and are having the problem, pull the battery pack out and reseat it back in there again.  maybe connection not good.  OH, and I think mine had plastic covering the metal connections you may want to check that too -remove if so----- BUT the entire white plastic around the batteries STAYS IN PLACE do not remove that.

If that still doesn't work I would try regular AA batteries in it if in fact you have The FLIP ULTRA HD it will take regular batteries too.    IF they work - then maybe you got a defective Rechargeable Battery pack and should contact Flip Video at   http://www.theflip.com/en-us/

My Aiptek keeps coming on then shutting off! It's brand new, I've tried taking the battery out but it still does the same thing

Mine does this if the battery is not charged. Make sure the battery is installed with the contacts lined up (my daughter is a pro at putting the battery in upside down, and it doesn't connect to anything that way!) and charge it up overnight.

If it's still giving you trouble the next day, post back and we'll try something else.

1) remove the battery pack from the camcorder
2) connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer
3) when the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder
4) safe eject your camcorder from your computer
5) reconnect your camcorder to your computer
6) the battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder

Brand new Flip Ultra HD. Giving error "Check Battery Pack Charging paused" after 30 seconds of plugging into the USB port of my computer. This USB port DOES support high power.

check the contacts on the bottom of the pack. for some reason, the plastic sheathing covers the positve contact of one of the batteries. i took an xacto knife and cut a small hole to expose that end. after that, voila, no more charging problem. i woke up to a full charge this morning!!!

Picture in veiw finding keeps rolling so cant see what i am video

As you have noticed, this is not a battery problem but rather a screen problem(the view finder LCD screen) If the image is crisp and clear even though its rolling I would assume that the LCD screen connectors have come loose and can be resolved by taking them off and re-connecting them firmly. Make sure to turn off the camcorder before atttempting the repair just in case you want to do this yourself. I strongly advice you take professional help in fixing it.

Feel free to post back if you need more help.

If your batteries are NOT JVC batteries, then the problem is with your batteries. JVC batteries have some "smart circuitry" in them that helps the camera know and tell you how much juice is left. After about 20 seconds, the camera gives up trying to get the info from the non-JVC batteries and displays the communication error.

Real JVC batteries could fix the issue.

Canon Elura 100 Power Dead

Just an update.
I sent it back to the factory - and they fixed the power unit.
However, they told me that now my Memory card and memory card operations will not work.
They did not charge me for it - they took it under warranty.
Everything else seems to be working.
