Follow the instruction on the manual how to remove this, the ink(printhead are a part of the ink assy itself) and gently clean this with softened cloth damped with water,( head is the the mettalic part that spits ink) then completely dry , dont over rub the head, then immediately re-place to your unit, off and on and try again.

chances are your head might need replacement, but you can try this first to save some money

Epsom tx425 will not print black

Try cleaning the printhead (click File>Print>Printer properties>Maintenance). When you get to Maintenance page, click 'clean printhead' button. If you haven't used the printer for a while, you might have to run the cleaning cycle more than once.

good luck!

Refilled black ink cartrige and i can't get it to print at all. done more deep cleans than i want to remember, still will not print. done nozzle clean also. i have refilled this cartrige several times...

You may need a newer cartridge
See if the printhead has any abnomal markings.
You can compare it with the color printhead.
If the printhead is good, see if the ink is flowing through the printhead.
Fill the ink cartridge to maximum
Squeeze the sides of the ink cartridge, ink should flow out.
If ink is flowing out, remove any excessive ink with a paper towel.
Install ink cartridges, do NOT do any cleaning cycle.
Since your black cartridge is full, cleaning may cause it not to print.
Do some black copy operations.

I have an hp officejet 7110 all-in-one and I've been getting a message saying that supply expired on the black cartridge. i replace it and it still won't let me print. what else could be wrong

Hello there:
This problem is usually due to a print head that needs to be replaced
I have provided the information that you will need ok
best regards mike
This document provides information on how to replace a printhead or ink cartridge.A printhead may need replacing when print quality issues cannot be resolved by cleaning the printheads or a front-panel display message indicates a printhead needs to be replaced. An ink cartridge needs replacing when a front-panel display message indicates either:
  • Low ink levels
  • Ink cartridge approaching expiration date
CAUTION: Never remove an ink cartridge and a printhead at the same time. Use the table below to identify the correct ink cartridge part number: Ink cartridge Part number HP 14 black print cartridge C5011A HP 14 tri-color print cartridge C5010A Use the table below to identify the correct printhead part number: Printhead Part number HP 14 black printhead C4920A HP 14 cyan printhead C4921A HP 14 magenta printhead C4922A HP 14 yellow printhead C4923A Replacing the ink cartridges Follow the instructions below to replace the ink cartridges:

My MFC665CW will not print in black. It does

The printheads go bad on these, when several cleanings don't help, you need a new printhead. the price is more than a new machine since they sell the new mfc490 for about $120.00 and the printhead alone to repair yours is $179.00 from Brother...

When printing colour, black appears green

A worn out printhead can allow inks to contaminate each other, after cleaning you need to check your cartridges, if yellow is a brown color, you are getting contamination and need to replace the printhead. Black is hard to tell but when cyan gets too dark it's contaminated as well.

Print quality is terrible

Your printhead is in need of a cleaning cycle...

The black part of the K/Y printhead is pigmented and they tend to clog much quicker than the other dyebase colours. As a result you should run a cleaning cycle from the control panel

  • Setup button
  • Tools option (6)
  • Clean Printhead (option 3)
That will then run a printhead cleaning routine which hopefully will resolve the issue.

Unfortunately as I said the K/Y printheads are poorly built and you may need to replace it if, after 3 cleaning routines the output doesn't improve.

One solution is to switch to a Non-HP black cartridge that uses dyebase ink instead of HP's pigment but that's only if you get this more than once.

Hope that helps.

I've changed the black ink cartridge but it won't print in black

Sounds like there is a problem with your printhead. You need to clean it using the printer itself (menu -- clean printhead -- deep clean). If this does not work, go to kodak.com/go/itg to get your printhead replaced, free of charge.

ERROR CODE 3813

After I took out PrintHead and tried to clean it up again, I put it back in with Ink Cartridges and got error code 3813 - also couldn't fix it. Removed Ink Cartridges, turned printer off. Turn back on and it will forget about error code 3813 and will tell you to install Ink cartridges. Do that and error code 3813 is gone and ready to print.

A note: I did not find anything telling me I have to change printhead but my problem with black ink printing still exists so I will get new printhead and see if that problem gets fixed.
