SOURCE: zapco 18 band eq

You will need to call the manufacturer, ZAPCO - 209-577-4268, or email them at tech support [email protected] , in order to purchase the part you are missing. It is possibel to hard wire the RCA parts you need and creat a homemade fix, but in all honesty it is not worth it, and it will probably introduce a lot of interference in to the quality of your signal path rendering it a bad option. Give them a call / email. If they will only sell the part to a dealer, call Car Depot @ 615 - 269-8080 and they can have the part purchased and delivered to you for a small fee. Good luck.

What do the 2 blue wires hook up to? also on the back there is a switch nor-rev what is it and what does it do?

Blue goes to your head unit's blue wire. It switches the eq on when the head unit is switched on. It also gets tied into the amp's blue wire (if you are using an amp, and I guess you are since you have a passive eq...). The fact that there are 2 is just for conveinience I think (99% sure) If I recall one may have a white stripe, and the other none. If you want to be sure, with all power DISCONNECTED to everything, and the harness plugged into the EQ, use a multimeter to see if there is continuity (connection) between the 2 blue wires. Then you can rest assured they gave you a secind one just for a "pass thru" to your amps, but inside they are electrically connected, and are essentially the same piece of wire.

No sound with USB and IPOD Apline IDA-X100

You connected your blue alpine wire (power antenna) to your blue wire (amplifier remote on) on the BMW harness adapter. You need to undo this, amputate your blue alpine wire (because your E36 has no power antenna) and connect the alpine blue wire with white stripe (remote power) to your blue wire on the harness adapter.

When you switch source from the radio, alpine is shutting off your amplifier through the connected power antenna wire. Since you're not listening to the radio anymore, it sees no reason why it should give it power.
