Question about Nortel Norstar 16-Line PBX Speakerphone

Norstar T7316 can't make call forward work

Have a Norstar T7316 system in our office and the receptionist is off next week and we want to forward the calls to a cellphone. Have set up following instructions and the phone doesn't ring, but the line flashes but it doesn't send it to the cellphone - what are we doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    When putting in the cellphone number we put a 1 in front of it to get the outside line and it still won't take it.

    Same problem here, too. Please describe all of the steps to forward from a Norstar with 4 lines to a cell phone. The 4th line is an 800# with a land-line routed through the Norstar. We want to forward it to a cell phone.

    When you put in the cell phone number, did you put a 9 as the first digit of the number to be dialed. If you dial 9 from your phone to call out then the system is looking for a 9 to accsess an outside line to forward the call. Let me know .....Mike

If the phone system requires you to dial a " 9 " then your 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX then the number the system is trying to call must have a 9 as the first digit. Give it a try and let me know. ...Mike

Check first that you can forward calls from your phone to another in your office.this is proving call forwarding internal works.
by default you can only forward to a max of 4581 an internal num.
you have to be allowed to call forward external and to at least a num that would have 16 digits ie 087 5432178 (total 10 digits in this example) the access code for a line to call out must be inserted before this num.
sometimes also in a key system as you have a direct line when you press the key an # is required first to let the ptt know you are not actually dialling when you are setting this up initially ie #087 press call forward key -enter number-press call forward key again.a black arrow should appear when the feature is active....dont know if this helps

    i forgot to mention *21* and #21# these are the ptt activation and de activation codes as this is a direct exchange line when it is selected for use

    again forgot to say that it is also possible to request variable call divert from your telephone service supplier it is free.when this is activated on the network you can then use the *21* codes etc to divert to the mobile

When i press "line3" or "line4" on the phone does nothing. Lines 1 and 2 work without problem. Do i need to program lines 3 and 4? Line 3 and for work on all other phones in the office.

Feature + 84 is call redirect, to forward calls to outside lines. Feature + 4 is call forwarding to any extension inside your phone system. Feature + 84 has to be enabled by the phone administrator.

T7316 phone does not cancel call forwarding

#73 is a a feature you use on a telephone line to cancel call forwarding (cfw) of an outside call (some codes may differ). You need to have the dial tone of that outside line to cancel the cfw. to cancel the cfw of a norstar set (internal calls to extension) just press the cfw key or press 'feature #4'

Incoming calls sound only on reception desk.

Programming2.gif is done on M7310, M7324 and T7316 sets.
To set up ringing you need to enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number. Enter extension number you wish to program ringing on. Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should sat LINE ACCESS
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display should say LINE ASSIGNMENT.
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display ask for a line number. press list
The display should say line 001: appear only
press the Chng key till it says appear & ring
press next key (lower right arrow)
The display should say line 002: appear only
repeat the procedure the same as line 001 for the remaining ringing lines

press the release key when finished

Two ways to change time on old and new norstar. Old go in to admin programming and step to time adn date then change time. New system go to t7316 phone and push feature key plus **time then change time

Norstar m7324 - forward to outside line

The solution for someone using the administrator phone (receptionist phone) is after discovering you have a fax call, depress the <link> button. Dial the fax number, wait for it to answer, then depress <link> again. This places call 1 with an outside number.

Apparently this is also available if you have a feature button by depressing <feature> <7> <1> instead of <link>. I haven't tried this so don't take my word for it.

This can also be used to forward a caller to an outside line, such as a cell phone. In the manufacturing business, our shop manager is never in the office. I may ask him if this is a viable solution.

Multi line system and phone still rings while I'm on another line


Unfortunately if the receptionist is using priority call (f69) there's not much you can do. Priority call is an administrator programmed function that overrides when your on a call and when the set is in do not disturb. Maybe bribing the receptionist might be in order.

Call the phone system.

When you hear the voicemail greeting,
Press "* *" (thats 2 stars)

then just like sitting in front of the phone.
