TRANSFERRING PHOTOS TO COMPUTER If your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and isinexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also downloadphotos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need ofinstalling any programs.
Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones:
On most cameras, once you start to use the internal memory, the camera doesn't want to read a memory card. You need to go into the menu and "reset" the camera. Then, with no card in the camera, go into the menu and "format" the internal memory. Then, insert the card and "format" it. This will erase it so download any pics first.
Could be the memory chip isn't working right. They are very sensitive to improper handling. I prefer to use the usb download cable rather than removing the card and inserting it into the computer. If you touch the gold contact fingers on the card, static electricity can damage it, personal experience. Some replacement chips have a lifetime guarantee, which I have used. Try a new mem card, they are sort of cheap. Also if you use the program that came with the camera, it might reset the functions on the chip. Hope this helps.
Try to connect properly your memory card into your laptop card reader. When it doesn't show it means it not properly inserted. To make sure that it will read your memory card is be to scan or try also to connect it another possible PC or laptop and to sure its working there. Good luck!
The chip may not be inserted correctly. You can tell by seeing or not seeing SD symbol in the view screen. Try removing the SD card. Go through the memory and see if the pictures were saved to the camera or to the card. If the pictures were saved to the camera, turn off the camera and re-insert the card. See if the cards responds by showing more pictures available for taking and move the pictures to the card. If the pictures were saved to the card, then the card may need to replaced.
