Vista compatability? My wife has a new Vista Computer and the X7170 will not load the driver. Even when I go to the Lexmark site, I get a "user cancelled" notice for install. Since I did not cancel, I am confused.

If you still have the install disc for your printer, re-insert the disc in your hard driver to repair any corrupted Lexmark printer softwares. You may try the driver from the Lexmark website:
- X7170 driver for Vista 32-bit - X7170 driver for Vista 64-bit

What is the error message that you get? What operating system are you using?

You can download the Lexmark X7170 driver from the Lexmark website for free. Go to this link Lexmark X7170 Drivers. Select your operating system by clicking on change OS.


Click on FILTER.


Then click on the driver under Recommended Downloads. Download, execute the file and follow the instructions on the software. NOTE: Use Vista Driver in Windows 7.

Lexmark have not yet released a driver for Vista and there does not appeasr to be any intention to do so from what i have read on their bulletins. Dopn;t wait sell it on ebay to an xp user and get a better supported printer

You need to go to printers and faxes.  Set up a new networked printer.  Take the drivers off of your vista machine, because by using those drivers, vista is thinking that the printer is physically hooked up tot hat computer.

Go here and enter the model and OS then download

As this is a new computer I guess it has Vista installed and your install CD is not for Vista.
Go to this site and just type in your printer model "Lexmark X7170" the next page will ask you what operating system you are using, select your OS and it will take you to the download page, the download will contain all the information, programs and drivers that your original install CD contained.
