Safely Removie Hardware

As soon as I connect my iPod a message pops up saying that my iPod needs to be scaned and fixed. I've clicked on the scan and fix and nothing happens. I've clicked the X to get out and nothing still happens. After that I'll have iTunes up and out of no where it'll say something like "Can't sync because the iPod was not found" and it turns out that the safely remove hardware ejected it....WHY?

What operating system are you running. If it's XP with SP2 or Vista, then it should be ok, but if it's earlier then you need to update your drivers. Go to the Apple website and go through the 5 r's. It normally sorts most things out.

  • The firmware of your GoGear may be corrupted.
    1. Make sure that your computer is online and connecting to the Internet. Launch the Firmware Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Firmware Manager on your PC
    2. Connect your GoGear to the computer while pressing & holding the 051104154033_4112.gif key until the Firmware Manager recognize the GoGear and a dialogue box pop up in recover mode.
    3. Click Start to confirm and start recovering the unit to its factory setting
IMPORTANT: All music & content of your GoGear Player will be erased once the factory setting is restored.
    4. Follow all screen instructions and click Finish at the end to complete the recovery.
    5. The Firmware manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed. Close all opened application and then safely remove your GoGear by clicking on the EJECT HARDWARE icon in your task tray bar. Switching off ipod video 80Gb

The "Do Not Disconnect" message will persist until the the iPod is fully charged. Even after this, the message will still persist - it just does this by default. As long as the spinning wheel in the far upper left-hand corner of your iPod screen no longer appears, the sync has been complete - as soon as it is fully charged, safely remove the hardware on your Windows desktop (or use the Eject button in iTunes - or both), and remove the iPod from your PC.

Used iPod Shuffle won't work on my computer.

Hi. Please calm down and stop swearing in your post, as i don't think many people will want to help you unless you do. Getting angry and losing your temper will get you nowhere very fast. There are several possible reasons for your problem. Firstly, the "F" drive is your iPod Shuffle, but your Computer can't access it. Your Computer probably displays it as F: Removable Drive. Look at the blue bar at the bottom right of your Computer screen, near where the clock is. You should see a green arrow pointing slightly downwards. Move your mouse arrow on to it, and you should see the words 'Safely Remove Hardware' pop up there. Right - click the green arrow, and then left - click the words 'Safely Remove Hardware'. You should now see a window box with some USB information about you iPod Shuffle. Click the Troubleshooter, to see if it's working properly, following the relevant steps. By this point, if you're shouting at the screen asking "WHERE THE HELL IS THE GREEN ARROW ?", it's because something is still preventing your Computer from accessing the "F" drive. This usually means that either your iPod has been security-protected, which means it will only work on your friend's Computer, or the USB port you've been using is faulty. Try using a different USB port, to see if that corrects the problem. Another possibility is that the files on your iPod Shuffle are corrupted, in which case, try using it in your friend's Computer instead. Scan it for any viruses as soon as you can access the files on it, with AVG 7.5 Free Ed. You can get it free from www.filehipppo.com , You don't say if you got the iPod Shuffle from your friend, or just the i-Tunes software, but if the iPod works on his Computer, then the problem is either something related to your iPod Shuffle, or your Computer. Also, maybe you have a Virus or Spyware on your Computer. Get AVG 7.5 Free Edition and Spybot - Search and Destroy 1.6 from www.filehippo.com . Run a full Anti - Virus scan on your Computer, but don't uninstall the Anti-Virus program you already have, unless it's a McAfee or a Norton product. Make sure you download all the updates for AVG 7.5 Free Edition before you scan your computer, and ignore all requests to register it, as it's not neccessary. After you've done that, download Spybot - Search and Destroy 1.6, update it, and then scan your computer for spyware. You'd be surprised just how damaging spyware can be to your computer, if it's left for long enough. Anyway, i hope some of this helps you.

    Doesn't show safely remove hardware

To safely remove any hardware you simply look down in the bottom right of your screen and right click the safely remove hardware symbol then left click the safely remove hardware button. however if you are asking how to make the taskbar show this icon so that you may do that you must simply right click anywhere on the taskbar or start button it dose not matter then click properties then click the button that says Customize then you must scroll down and find your icon in which you are looking for then click on the down arrow next to it and set it to Always Show then click apply then click ok.
Hope this solves your issue. if not please do not hesitate to respond to this.

    PC DOESN'T SEE IPOD

    - It should install automatically and appear as a removable disc drive in 'my computer' when you plug it in. You should only use 'safely remove hardware' when you have fininshed and want to unplug it again. -

Tip: iPod can always be ejected safely by choosing Eject iPod from the Controls menu within iTunes.

    1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
    2. In Control Panel, select Check for updates in the Security section. If the Control Panel is in Classic view, open Windows Update.
    3. Click the View available updates link and be sure that Update for Windows Vista (KB936824) is checked.
