As soon as I connect my iPod a message pops up saying that my iPod needs to be scaned and fixed. I've clicked on the scan and fix and nothing happens. I've clicked the X to get out and nothing still happens. After that I'll have iTunes up and out of no where it'll say something like "Can't sync because the iPod was not found" and it turns out that the safely remove hardware ejected it....WHY?

Re: Safely Removie Hardware
What operating system are you running. If it's XP with SP2 or Vista, then it should be ok, but if it's earlier then you need to update your drivers. Go to the Apple website and go through the 5 r's. It normally sorts most things out.

What do you do? You click “Eject.” What happens? A message saying
something to the effect that your iPod can’t disconnect because files
on your iPod are currently being used. What happens next? You keep
clicking “Eject” over and over again, of course. Still nothing. Same
Here’s the solution.
Open up “My Computer” (for Vista users, that’s “Computer”) and look
for your iPod in the list of drives and removable storage. Right-click
on it and click “Eject!” And there you go. Ejected iPod. Don’t believe
me? Just go back to iTunes and see that you’ve been ejected.
Hold the sleep button (top) and the home button (bottom) until the apple logo appears then let go and let it reboot.
If that doesn't fix your problem you may need to restore. To restore, hold down the sleep button (top) and the home button until the apple logo appears. As soon as it appears let go of the sleep button but keep the home button held.
After a few seconds a (plug into iTunes) message should appear. Do this now. iTunes will say your iPod needs to be restored, click the restore button now.
iTunes will then download the newest firmware for your iPod and perform a system recovery. This will wipe out everything on your iPod but don't worry, to re obtain everything just sync it with iTunes when the restore is done.
That should fix your problem, however. If it doesn't I am afraid to say that you will have to have it repaired by apple.
NOTE: If your iPod is jailbroken this will un-jailbreak it. You will have to reinstall everything after re-jailbreaking. I'm sorry for the incovenience.
thats a big problem the only way its to take to the apple store or call them they should send u a box so u can send them the ipod but only the ipod because they dont need the accesories. they might send u a new one or fix ur ipod touch
Im very sure that you encountered that message when trying to scaning using the HP Director / HP solution center. Here are the steps that i want you to do inorder to solve the issue.
1. Insert the CD that you used to install the Software.
2. The Window for installation will pop-up, CLICK ON UNINSTALL. (note: make sure that you unplug the usb cable from the back of your computer before uninstalling the SOftware).
3. When done, restart your computer.
4. Re-insert the CD and Click on INSTALL.
The reason why you encounter such problem might have something to do with the corrupted components of the Software installed in your pc.
i did a full system format - not the quick one, after i did that i was able to access the ipod in itunes to "restore" the ipod which fixed my problem - now i just have to re load everything onto it - and remember how to convert movies again........;)
ok this will work forshur!!

Did you have things apart far enough to mess with the scanner. The scanner should move to one side when it first goes on, and then trip a sensor (home position sensor). Also, the scanner is probably belt or cable driven. Check to see that the belt is somewhat tight, and that the gears and pulleys leading to the scanner motor are in place and not broken.
