The screen will not show the image. it looks as if the screen is cracked, but there is no crack on the screen. also the zoom will not go in or out. the camera turns on, you can hear it and the lights on...

firts resolve the lens issue
1.- Clean the lens surface with a soft cloth (clean the cilinder body of lens)
2.- Turn OFF the camera.
3.- Gently Push the lens
4.- Gently PULL the lens while you turn ON the camera

Check if the lens go in and out. If the lens don`t move try again step 2 to 4

If the lens move, and the Screen continue NOT image (screen is white) you need replace the lens sensor

Dvd disk error and check disk error both are same error. The name is different. In both cases the lens in the dvd unit needs to be checked. The lens is either moved from its position or getting blocked by any dust or any dirty stuff got stuck up on the thin lens glass internally.
In some cases the lens is cracked so the lens assembly needs replacement. But first try cleaning the lens with a dry tissue. You can also try blowing air from air blower first.Blow air in the unit where the disk is inserted/placed.Then check. If still same then the unit needs to be removed out to disassemble to clean the lens manually and also this will help to know if lens is cracked or faulty.

Thanks. keep updated for any more can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Lens cap is off battery is fully charged it will

possible ccd issue.screen indicators for sure is ok, and viewfinder would show same black screen.this model is included in a recall by sony because of a defect in the ccd imaging sensor years back.but sad to say the program (and even the extension for it) is no longer available for all affected camcorder models. now it only includes the dsct1 and dscf717 dig cams.i.m sorry this unit would need replacement of the ccd imaging sensor.hope this info helps.thanks.

Image through nikon f80 dark and cloudy

I'm unfamiliar with the F80 but on models like the f65 and f75 the viewfinder screen has an lcd overlay and when the battery is exhausted or removed the viewfinder goes dark and blurry.

Looking at a picture of the f80 it looks like it's just an update on my f75 so it strongly suggests that you just need to insert a fresh battery. The lcd does draw power from the battery even with the camera turned off.

I hope that you found my answer useful, once you've tried another battery to confirm what I've suggested I'd appreciate it if you return the favour by rating my answer.

Nikon Coolpix 3100 dead w/ lens extended

I'm curious if the Battery you replaced the first battery you had in it was also bad. That is rare but possible. Another Issue maybe that the door isn't closing all the way creating a cood electrical connection for the batteries inside. It maybe as simmple as applying outward pressure to the battery door. You may need to have the door replaced, unless you can either bend up the metal contacts to assist in the connection ro use something like a small papeclip and some super glue to bridge the contacts.

Image problem

It appears to be a problem with the CCD sensor in some models and Sony is recalling those units for free repair until Sept 30 2008. Humidity or heat is affecting the CCD where a portion of the screen or the entire screen image is gone. Sound still will work. Check the sony site.

The Stress of impact on the imaging forming unit that is directly behind the projection lens has a flat glass surface. If it is cracked the stress cracks would project with any image because they are on the same plane as the image
