Just put an aftermarket stereo in my 2000 ford windstar. I used the specified harness adapater for this vehicle. The new stereo works great. However, now my 2 back speakers dont work at all. What could cause this? Could it have something to do with the rear radio controls not being hooked up any more?

SOURCE: Stock Speakers wont work with new stereo plzzzz HELP

U have a Factory audio auxiliary amp in the truck, the radio is just a head unit with a preamp feeding a main amp, that is behind the right rear 1/4 panel trim panel in the cargo area, if your new sound unit has preamp outputs use them, other wise u must wire around the Ford factory amplifier.

F5TF-19B132-BA Ford Radio Pin out

The stereo pin layout can be obtained from the car dealership, also a repair manual should have the stereo wiring harness layout in it , the stereo harness adapter for installing non oem stereo, found at the local auto parts store will come with the wiring layout, wires are color coded too, sometimes the stereo harness or stereo harness adapter will have small writing on the wires itself, showing you what that wire is for, and where it should connect.

Basically it comes down to, obtaining the stereo wiring layout, read the description on the wires, and properly connect them together, then solder the wires or crimp them, I like to solder mine with soldering wire for electronics, and put shrink tubes to protect the wires, put the shrink tubes on the wires before soldering together, and ensure the shrink tube is the proper size awg wire gauge.

You will also need, aftermarket face adapter kit and antenna adapter, if installing aftermarket stereo.

Hope this helps and enjoy the stereo :)

I need a radio wiring diagram for a 2003 ford windstar

Which diagrams do you need?...if it is to install an aftermarket deck, get an adapter so u dont cut into the factory wiring harness..the adapter plugs into the factory plug and allows u to solder the aftermarket radio wires to the other side of it.I have attached a link to where u can get the adapters...unfortunatly this wont allow me to send u my radio schematics that are in PDF format.

I cant get sound out of my speakers. i put in a new stereo and hooked it up

Did you use a wire harness specific to your vehicle year and model? Make sure you get the right harness, depending on what factory system came with the car(base or mach460 sound systems), If your speakers were working prior to replacing the radio, then there's a possibility that the harness may not be compatible. also, the car may be equipped with a factory amp(mach460 systems). Here's a link that may help you figure it out. http://www.modifiedlife.com/2000-ford-mustang-car-stereo-wiring-instructions/

I unhooked the after market alarm and now the van wont start

You need to COMPLETLY remove ALL of the aftermarket equipment and repair the vehicle wiring harnesses where they have been cut. The problem you are experiencing is the very reason why I tell all of my customers to NOT install ANY aftermarket equipment on their vehicles.
There are several problems with this:

> The aftermarket installers RARELY provide the vehicle owner with a wiring diagram for the systems they install.

> Even WITH the schematics for the system, different installers will cut into the circuits at different locations on the vehicles, so nobody knows where to tell you to repair the vehicle harness when these problem occur.

> Aftermarket alarm systems and remote start systems can cause no-start conditions that cannot be diagnosed using the diagnostic troubleshooting charts that are published by the vehicle manufacturer. These systems also usually tie-in with the ignition and fuel supply circuits and can cause all kinds of OBD fault codes including misfire codes and oxygen sensor malfunction codes.

> Many installers use "quick-connects" to connect wires to vehicle harnesses or cut the vehicle harnesses and simply twist wires together and wrap them with electrical tape. Using either of these methods is not suitable for automotive wiring and is ASKING for a failure that will leave the vehicle owner stranded.

I have had to clean-up these messes up several times. It is not allways easy or inexpensive. It may take several hours to repair the damage that has been done to the vehicle as a result of installing aftermarket equipment.

I am tryin to remove the factory radio from a 2000 Nissan Altima and install an aftermarket radio. but i cant seem to figure out a way to get the trim panel around the radio and HVAC module out. And i can...

  • disconnect the negative battery cable from the Altima's battery.

  • 2

Pry up the trim panel surrounding the gear stick. The trip panel is held in place by plastic clips that will disengage when the panel is pried up. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry up the panel. The panel doesn't need to be completely removed, just pried up enough to reveal two Phillips screws along the bottom of the radio trim panel.

  • 3

Remove the two Phillips screws along the bottom edge of the radio trim panel, just above the gear stick. Remove the two Phillips screws from above the radio. Remove the ashtray.

  • 4

Pry the radio trim panel loose with your fingers or a flat-head screwdriver and remove it.

  • 5

Remove the four Phillips screws holding the radio in place. Set the screws aside for use later. Slide the radio forward and disconnect the wires from the back of the device.

  • 6

Slide the cage included with your new stereo into your dash adapter. Slide the stereo into the cage and dash adapter.

  • 7

Connect the wires from the dash to the back of your new stereo. All stereos have slightly different connections methods, so refer to the owner's manual accompanying your new stereo for the proper connection procedure.

  • 8

Slide the stereo and dash adapter into the dashboard. Use the previously removed Phillips screws to mount the stereo in place. Replace the radio trim panel and gear stick trim panel. Reconnect your battery.

  • If you are putting a aftermarket stero make sure you buy a stero harness that plugs into the cars harness, on the back side of the harness you just installed will have open wires to conet to your new stero. If you cut the wires from your car to try to splice it to the new raido it can cause problems with the electrical system includeing making the transmission shift or act funny. you can pick the harness at wall-mart, car auido, best buy, or any car auido place.

Need wiring guide for replacing stock radio 1996 ford windstar with Dual Model XD 1222 radio have harness still need wiring assistance

I would get an adapter harness that will plug into your existing vehicle plug, and the wires are color coded to match up to most aftermarket stereos. You could check e-Bay, or a local automotive audio store for the adapter harness.

Wire harness dont know how to hook up radio cause colors dont match up

If your puting in a aftermarket stereo system, they make adapters that will plug into the factory harness and have a diagram of what to hook up to your new stereo. They should have one of these at a stereo store or even auto parts or Wal Mart. I had to put one in my 89 Caravan and 88 Prelude. I got them from the local stereo store and they were about $12 bucks or so. Depends on how much your stereo place overcharges.

    Hope this works for you....
