I use our office network for email on my iphone and it was working fine until the new iphone came out. I have not upgraded to 2.0. I use a pop account but no luck. We have talked to AT&T and they say their system is fine. Our IT guy has checked the network and it is working. I did hear that AT&T has had some problems in the Northwest with their email on iphones since the new phones were released, but when I ask them about it they say everything is fine. I'm stumped.
I'm also having the same problem. I have three accounts set up on my phone, and none of them are able to locate mail...it just searches. I have tried deleting the accounts and loading them again on my phone, resetting my phone, playing around with the settings, etc but nothing seems to be working.

Re: cannot receive email since new iphones came out
I have the exact same problem, no email on iPhone. It just searches for server. I reset then did a restore from previous backup, it received email one time, then went back to the same problem.

Many iPhone users are facing a lot of problems with email. They are facing problems in sending or receiving email messages. The email account configured in the user's iPhone has been popping strange problems. Sometimes it simply refuses to accept any incoming mails and at other times it suffers from problems in the retrieval of mails.
Configure your email account directly on iPhone and not from your computer
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and from there only add your email accounts under Accounts by tapping the Add Account option.
Turn of Wi-Fi and try fetching your mails by using the Cellular Data network
Try restarting your iPhone by pressing the sleep/wake up button for few seconds on turning it back on
After trying these options your iPhone should be back with your email account working perfectly fine. Otherwise you may need to visit the nearest Apple Store.
Our incoming mail server is not delivering emails, however outgoing is fine. The weird this is this only happenns at our office, the same email and settings works from home and to my smartphone. There is something at our office that is blocking. These emails have been working for years and only last week it all stopped.
If iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or you can't sync iPhone
The iPhone battery might need to be recharged. For
information about charging iPhone, see "Charging the Battery" in the
iPhone User's Guide.
If that doesn't work, disconnect
other USB devices from your computer and connect iPhone to a different
USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on your keyboard).
If
that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold
the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red
slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note:
If you enter the SIM PIN incorrectly three times, you may need to
contact your carrier for a Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) to enable your
SIM card again.
If that doesn't work, restart your computer and reconnect iPhone to your computer.
If you can't make or receive calls, send or receive text messages, or access email or the web
Check the cell signal indicator in the status bar at the
top of the screen. If there are no bars, or if it says "No service,"
try moving to a different location. If you're indoors, try going
outdoors or moving closer to a window.
Check to make sure you’re in an area with network coverage. Go to your carrier's website to see network coverage areas.
Make sure airplane mode isn't on. From the Home screen choose Settings, then turn Airplane Mode off.
If that doesn't work, turn airplane mode on, wait 15 seconds, then turn airplane mode off again.
Make sure to include an area code for every phone number in your contacts list that you use to send or receive text messages.
If
that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold
the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red
slider appears, then slide the slider. Then press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note:
If you enter the SIM PIN incorrectly three times, you may need to
contact your carrier for a Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) to enable your
SIM card again.
If that doesn't work, there may be an issue with your wireless service. Call your carrier or go to your carrier's website.
MMS: Original iPhone does not support MMS. MMS is available
on iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS if it is supported by the wireless carrier.
For more information, please see iPhone: System requirements for MMS.
iPhone OS 2.x and earlier: Press and hold the Home button until the application quits. iPhone OS 3.x and later:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears, then
press and hold the Home button until the application quits.
If
that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold
the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red
slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that
doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and
the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the
Apple logo appears.
If iPhone continues to freeze or not respond after you reset it
Reset iPhone settings. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but no data or media is deleted.
If iPhone is unable to send or receive mails, try these basic troubleshooting steps.
1. In Settings, turn on other SMTP servers
1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and under Accounts, tap the account from which you're trying to send mail: 2. Scroll down to where it says Outgoing Mail Server and tap the box where it says SMTP:
3. Scroll down to where it says AT&T SMTP Server, and tap it turn it on.
or Turn on all other SMTP Servers. 2. Add your email account on iPhone instead of syncing your mail settings from your computer 1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and under accounts, tap Add Account.
2. Follow the instructions. When you enter your email address, iPhone will look up your service provider's settings for you. If iPhone can't find your service provider's settings.
3. Turn iPhone off and then on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
To turn iPhone on press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
4. In Settings, turn off Wi-Fi to only use the cellular data network
1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi. 2. From the Home screen tap Mail.
Hi, Possibly this could be the reason. Your iPhone might have been setup with IMAP connection, and Outlook with POP3. In this case, once email is downloaded by Outlook, it will be deleted from the att.net server. So, go to Advanced in your Outlook account configuration and Select the option leave a copy on the server.
Then you will have to delete all the emails individually from your phone too.
Sounds like there is a problem with the WiFi card in your phone, take it back to an Apple store, all Apple stores have a WiFi open network so you can show a Mac Specialist the problem, my thinking is if it doesn't connect at home then it wont connect to there network. If your phone doesn't work in the store ask to speak to the manager or assistant manager, be persistent and insistent if your iPhone is not hacked they will change it but you have to fight your corner.
I'm also having the same problem. I have three accounts set up on my phone, and none of them are able to locate mail...it just searches. I have tried deleting the accounts and loading them again on my phone, resetting my phone, playing around with the settings, etc but nothing seems to be working.
Hopefully they'll give a resolution to this problem soon!
