I have a Haier HDW300SS dishwasher. My problem is that it is not dissolving the detergent powder. It doesn't even get wet! Is the bottom spray arm at fault? Have tried putting less dishes on the lower shelf and trying different wash setting. Thanks.

Hi,

I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

Dishwasher tablet does not dissolve so crockery not clean

Hello, M Cruse -

There are several situations which can result in the dishwasher detergent table not dissolving completely.

First, make sure your dishwasher detergent tablet isn't the kind that has to be removed from a cellophane type wrapping before placing in the dishwasher. I mention this because my husband does not always purchase the same brand of dishwasher detergent tablets. Some are not the kind with plastic which dissolves in the hot water of the dishwasher.

I think the information here:
https://removeandreplace.com/2015/05/15/dishwasher-not-dissolving-detergent-or-tablet-how-to-fix/
covers all the reasons why the dishwasher detergent tablet may not dissolve completely.

We have the problem that the detergent dispenser often "traps" the tablet. We reside in a rental and the landlord has not chosen to replace the dishwasher with a newer model, so we just toss the tablet into the bottom of the dishwasher.

Note: I think purchasing a gel dishwasher detergent would be better, but The Husband likes the tablets. Sigh . . .

Best wishes.

Detergent pods not completely dissolving hence dishes Not clean

Could be blocked filters or spray arms. Personally, I recommend using powders and rinse aid detergent. I really don't believe that the tablets work as well.

Why is water not heating in cycle?

Hello Kevin, thank you for your post!
From my understanding your Electrolux dishwasher is not fully dissolving the detergent tablet. It may not be an issue with the water heating up it could be a possible problem with the water not receiving adequate pressure or not enough water. Does your dispenser have any build up inside of it? Have your spray arms been recently cleaned? I would recommend cleaning the dispenser and spray arms out. I can also provide you with information regarding any heater inside of your dishwasher. In order to do so I need your model number. You can locate your model number on the inside wall of your dishwasher. With this information I would be happy to assist you further. -Matt

Hello

Water Inlet Valve

A dishwasher's water inlet valve is its most common part to fail. When your dishes are not being fully cleaned, quite often a faulty water inlet valve is to blame. Test your dishwasher's water inlet valve, and if it is no longer functioning as it should, you will have to replace it.

Upper or Lower Spray Arm

Your dishwasher has a lower spray arm. It may also have an upper spray arm at the top of the dishwasher. These spray arms are designed to shoot high pressure, high temperature water at your dishes. It is possible that the holes of the spray arms, where the water comes out, are blocked with debris, affecting wash quality. You should inspect your dishwasher's spray arms regularly. Clean out the spray arms as need be.

Heating Element

Water temperature is a key element in achieving clean dishes. A dishwasher's heating element is not designed to heat the water that enters it. Rather, the heating element is designed to maintain the heat of the water that enters the dishwasher. Its a good idea to run the hot water in your sink for a couple of minutes before you run the dishwasher. Just to make sure the water is nice and hot before it enters the dishwasher. If the water is unable to stay hot, it can adversely affect your dishwasher's cleaning ability.

Filter/Drain Grate

There is a filter in your dishwasher. Its function is to keep large particles of food and foreign objects away from the pump. Many of the newly-manufactured dishwashers have self-cleaning filters, and routine cleaning isn't a concern. However, some other dishw ashers need to have the filter removed and cleaned regularly. If the filter or grate is clogged or blocked with debris, it may interfere with the normal functioning of your dishwasher. Consult your owner's manual for specific directions for removing your dishwasher's filter and cleaning it.

Detergent or Detergent Cup

It could just be that you aren't using enough soap to completely wash your dishes. Your dishwasher may be designed to dispense soap at two different times during the wash cycle. If you don't fill all of the detergent cups, then the diswasher will lose a cleaning cycle. Also, if you use a gel-type detergent, try switching to a powered kind. Powders tend to dissolve better in hot water. And don't buy in bulk. Detergents are most effective in the first two weeks. After that, they decrease in potency.

Alternatively, your dishwasher's detergent cup could be defective in some way. It is possible that it is gunked up full of built up detergent, and a thorough cleaning may be enough to get it working again. If that doesn't do the trick, you probably need to replace the entire detergent cup assembly. If your cup isn't even opening, please see our section My dishwasher detergent cup won't open.

Seems to be problem with spray arm pressure. Check the spray
arm jet nozzles.
Check the incoming water flow to the machine. clean the strainer fitted at the washing machine end connection.
Being in the extended warranty, take the help from

The detergent packet doesn't dissolve. The dishwasher seems to go through the cycles ... the dishes are wet. However I find the detergent packet in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Hello- Water flow, temperature, and pressure inside determine whether this little packet will dissolve.  Sump blockages or pump /motor weakness both effect amount water spraying inside. Some of these packets don't dissolve in time to enter wash water. Start by using powder or gel again. If it still leaves soap residue, other pump/motor issues exist. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed. Thanks- ED

Dishwasher detergent clumps in pre-wash and main wash compartments

Make certain that there are no apparent obstructions between water and detergent. If no obstructions and the detergent dispenser and spray arms are operable, then the detergent should dissolve during wash. Otherwise, try using a different kind and amount of detergent (e.g.: powder vs. gel or gel vs. powder, and less detergent). If still clumping, contact an appliance service company.

LG LDF6920ST Bottom spray arm dose not work

The LG LDF6920 dishwasher has an innovative "Vario" motor/check valve. It switches between full power spray on the upper arms and the lower arm. So, if you are looking inside the dishwasher to see which arm is spinning, you just have not opened it when the lower arm is turning.
if the root problem is that your dishes are not getting clean with this water conserving DW, go out and buy a name brand detergent powder - like Electrosol or Cascade. And use less powder then you have been using.
Good Luck!

Re:dishwasher

Ginga, first of all it's still under warranty so I would call for service. Here's a few things to consider; first, I would switch back to the powdered detergent like Cascade. You want to make sure that the water entering the dishwasher is at least 120 to 150 degrees, anything less will cause the detergent not to dissolve. Check your loading and make sure nothing is blocking the spray arms from the soap dispenser. Make sure the spray arms do not have any cracks or splits. After the dishwasher fills, make sure that the water level is right at or just below the heating element, a short fill will cause this also. Catriver...post back.
