Once you've taken the picture, the date stamp is just more pixels, exactly as if you've taken a picture of a sign with the date on it. Just as a sign hides what's behind it, the date stamp covers whatever was there.

You can use a photo editing program to remove it the same way as removing any unwanted object in the picture. You can crop the picture, or use a cloning tool to try to extend the background to cover the date.

While the camera stores the date (and a lot more) with every picture, it will not deface your pictures by scribbling a string of numbers across them. Any photo editing/cataloging program should show you this information. Depending on the program and printer, you can print this information on the image, in the margins, or on the back. For example, if you're printing directly from the camera you can turn on DATE under CUSTOM PRINT.

You can set the date-stamp option in your camera's settings menu.

I had the same problem. I wanted to set my Olympus C5000 Zoom to automatically date stamp photos. After going through the entire manual, I had to call Olympus directly. They told me that none of their cameras have an internal date stamp feature. They said that the date stamp lowers the quality of the picture, so they choose not to have the feature available. However, you can manually add the date and time stamp through the software that comes with the camera, just before you print the pictures. Hope that helps...

However if you use the Olympus Master software and print the images that you have previously transferred there is a check box in the print setting window that you can add the date and or time to the printed image.

Well, not really a solution. More like clarification.
Olympus does not provide a date/time stamp on pics taken with this camera (f310/x840), so, no solution, just knowledge....

Not sure, but when each photo is taken, the file is recorded with the date which remains unchanged unless you edit the photo.
