Go to start (bottom left of main windows desktop), then programmes, then accessories and select 'paint'. Then within 'paint' go to 'file' and select the option 'from scanner or camera'. Select HP printer, which hopefully is an option, then follow on screen directions......
Mine stopped scanning when I bought a new Vista PC. Apparently the drivers won't run the scanner in the old way - but hopefully this'll work for you.
Vista has the drivers for the HP psc 2110 embedded in the OS.
So, you should be able to print, with the default drivers. But, you will not be able to scan as of right now, unless someone releases an update for the HP PSC scanning software. I doubt that will happen, as these all in one's are so old.
Such a good little printer/ scanner/ copier too.. kind of sad to think its that obsolete that its not compatible for scanning.

I had the same problem. Click Start, Windows Photo Gallery, from that screen, you can select import from scanner. The 1200 series printer should be a choice to select. You are then able to preview the image or document, then press scan. I found this out through the HP support website.
I had HP 1610 for a couple of years too. I upgraded to Windows Vista and All hell broke lose. My scanner does not work I barley can print. What happen. I've been cursed my Windows Vista.
New Computer is it?
Vista- yes?
Big troubles with drivers for scanners from vista.
Scanners have a built in processor that runs all its operations on command from the computer.
Vista is not speaking the same language the scanner wants to hear.
Got onto HP tech support- I don't hold out much hope for you re this.
