I understood that e90 was the code for a blockage so attempted the clear it without success. I called the engineer who advised that e90 was the fault code for the circuit board and would cost about 150.00 pounds to replace plus labour. He recommends I replace the washer for new and could supply me with one.

It is a communication problem between the circuit boards inside the machine. It might be as simple as unplugging and replacing the wires, or you may indeed require a new circuit board.

This is usually caused by the recycling pump running empty whilst the washing is still soaking up the initial fill water. as the water begins to soak the clothes it then starts to pass through the drum into the pump and the whole thing quietens down. running empty will not work. to test this theory try opening the drawer very slightly and filling it manually with a hose before starting the machine, (ONLY TO THE NORMAL LEVEL) and see if the noise is still as bad.
