I am having issues with an F1 error. I hear that this might need to be a recall, since it seems that everyone that has had their washer for a year is experiencing this. Is this anything that I can fix myself?

F1 error in your whirlpool cabrio indicates bad
control and should be replaced to resolve the error code. However, you can
contact Whirlpool as well prior to replacing the control yourself as I have
seen whirlpool paying for the parts themselves just because this is known to be
a common issue and yes even if its a 4 yrs old they have to fix it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
Error code F1 means that the control of washer has either gone bad or about to go bad. This is a common issue with Whirlpool Cabrio washers. I have also seen them replacing the control without any charge, don't really know about the labor charges but they usually won't charge for the part. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

There is a recall for the Cabrio F1 error code issue. I had mine fixed for free. They will have to replace the control board. You will need to call 1-800-253-1301 and tell them that your Cabrio washer is having the F1 error code and you read on the internet that Whirlpool has been making repairs. Have your model number, serial number, and purchase date ready for the person on the phone. The guy that repaired mine also replaced the washboard at the bottom for free...just ask the tech about it when he is there.
I just called Whirlpool...800-253-1301 in USA and a lovely lady informed that there is a recall on the Cabrio Whirlpool washer for the F1 code. We set an appointment and the service call and parts will be free to fix the issue.
I have started a petition to be sent to the CEO of Whirlpool Corp., Jeff Fettit. Follow the link, and please sign it! The more the better! Spread the word! You may also copy and post it to any other groups/discussions about this problem.
