I'd say it's a problem with your VIDEO CARD.
The video card could have a break or a short
that could result in a poor/bad signal being sent to your display. The
extra load on it (in sending information to the monitor) could have been generated a
malfunction of the card.
Try to make up-to-date the driver if possible. To do so connect to your machine another monitor (through cable, of course) and see if you can have "image" there. If yes, then go for the update!
To do so go
right-click on MY COMPUTER > PROPERTIES > HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER
and there select VIDEO CARD (or whatever is called) from the list of devices.
Right-click on VIDEO CARD > PROPERTIES > UPDATE DRIVER
After the update was done REBOOT.
