Hello! I have an Acer Aspire 3000 laptop, with a really weird problem. the in-built keyboard and mouse-pad won't work.... sent it off to the computer shop and they said it was a software problem and that the connections were fine. So I backed-up my files, booted of my xp-cd and formatted the hard-drive (using MS-DOS. but SURPRISE!!! the key-board works in MS-DOS mode!!! I reinstalled XP (thinking that the keyboard would now work) but the keyboard and mouse-pad will not work in windows!!! but it works in MS-DOS I can plug in and external mouse and keyboard and these work but I would like to have the in-built ones to work??? hope someone can help me Sincerely Emmanuel Higgins

Nope it didn't work, I checked all that, and am convinced that it is not a driver problem, Everything works fine in safe mode as well, I've tryed reformatting a few times now but it is still the same!!! everything works fine until windows loads up and then the keyboard, mouse-pad and power button stop responding!!!!
I have run out of ideas and need help!!!

My mouse and think pad do not work

There are 2 possible answers to this common issue, the first is that the aspire has a mouse lock. check your keyboard on the function buttons for a picture of a mouse with a line though it, hit function and at the same time press the mouse with the line through it and if its locked off this will turn if back on. The second answer is driver issues, if the first suggestion dont work I would go to the Acer website click on downloads and drivers and enter your model number. Then download and install your think-pad and mouse pad drivers and install.

My touchpad still wont work for my acer 3000

There is a button to turn on and off the touch pad. Is there a button on your keyboard that has the letters FN on it? if so hold that down and see what comes up. If not search for any kind of switch near your touch pad or that is on the keyboard that is not a normal typing key.

Touch pad and keyboard freeze after startup

Check your memory. Reseat your memory. Try that first. The next step would be to get *********** board checked. All I own is Acers and I have had that same problem. Usually after reseating the memory everything seems to work just fine. But this could even be your graphics card. I would try and run a diagnostic on it and reseat the memory. You can run a diagnostics by shutting down the computer then hitting F8 and click on diagnosis and repair. And see what kind of a reading you get out of it.
