Hp pavilion a610y Describe your hp pavilion a610y usb port Problem: Message tells me to unplug my highspeed device from my slow usb port on my zboard keyboard and plug it into one of 6 unused usb ports in a root hub. I do not have a hub attached to my computer, although the message tells me they are all working properly. How do I access this hub, or is this just a phantom?

It is referring to the USB ports on the back of your computer near where your keyboard plugs in. The front ones must be USB 1.1 which will cause this error.

Where can i find a high speed usb port on the hp pavilion desk top that was purchased new in 2009, thanks, bob

Hi Bob,
Usually the USB ports are either on the front of the unit or you may find some on the back of the unit. All USB ports are now HighSpeed, using the 2.0 delineation. Any port you find will do what you like for that particular unit.
Hope this answers your query.

My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv 8309us and when none of the 4 USB ports recognizes any device. A message appears "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZE, ONE OF THE USB DEVICES ATTACHED TO THIS COMPUTER HAS...

I think the problem lies in a damaged USB controller on the laptop. The fact that none of the ports work, indicates that either the power to the ports has failed, or more likely the circuitry controlling the USB hub has failed. Sadly You will most likely need to replace the motherboard

USB ports not working, slow computer

The error you are getting is the USB port driver. I suggest disconnecting ALL of the items you have connected to ALL of the USB ports and rebooting. If the computer reboots normally, go back and install ONE and ONLY one USB device. Restart your machine. If it boots OK, shut down, remove that device and connect another one, restart again. Do this for EACH of the USB devices until you find one that causes the computer to boot slowly and/or generates the error message. That one is the culprit and needs to be repaired before reattaching to your system.

If, however, after removing all of the USB devices initially and rebooting, you still get the error message, then you have a USB driver problem. You will need to remove the USB driver and reinstall from a known good location (like HP's website) to fix the driver problem.

This usb device can perform faster if you connect it to a hi speed usb 2.0 port. I have an hp pivilion dv 6000, and according to the specs, I have usb 2.0, but I get this message every time I plug my flash...

This is just an error message. Yes, your HP Pavillion has USB 2.0, but there's a possibility that your USB flash drive has USB 1.1 specs.

If the flash drive has USB 1.1 specs, you would still get the same message. Again, this is just a message because USB 2.0 is backwards compatible with USB 1.1.

Have a great day!

Hp pavilion dv4000 usb port can't use

This error occures when a USB device draws more power than the USB port can supply.
To fix this problem, purchase a powered USB hub. Power up the hub and connect it to the laptop's USB port and then plug the USB device into the powered USB hub.

Usb ports not working

hi,

What device are you trying to connect? was there an error message when you plug in the usb device. try booting up your computer to safe mode with networking.

1. Restart the computer
2. Keep on tapping F8 when you have the HP logo screen, using the down/up arrow of the keyboard choose safe mode with networking. if the device still not working then it could be a problem with the USB driver. You may try restoring your computer back to the working time using system restore. Just go to start then Accessories - System tools- system restore.Restore your computer to a working date.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.
