When my biostar k8m800 micro am2 is swiched on only boots to various points then freezes, 1 in 20/30 times when switched on it might complete bootup but will then it would freeze and would need switching off at back of computer. have tried different memory, hard drive, powersupply reset bios, ide cables, run out of ideas, Gerry, [email protected]

insert install media (dvd or USb)
boot it
and do as it asks.

The power surge that you got fried your motherboard.

I would verify that the memory you're using is actually working properly.
Try to boot to the new stick and see if it works.
If not, it doesn't work.
If it does, you may need to replace the original stick with the same stick that you are trying to use now.

Try to uninstall and reinstall drivers. And make sure cables have a good connection, volume settings are ok in Control Panel Sound applet and also in Realtek settings. Good Luck!
