The clicking sound most likely is the hard disk. It is probably faulty (known as the click of death).
Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard disk. If the BIOS cannot detect the hard disk then the hard disk is faultu.
To get you PC operating again, replace the faulty hard disk, install Windows on the new hard disk plus the HP's motherboard device drivers and your programs.

Spins but makes a beeping sound and wont register.

Well, It sounds like there is something lodged in your Hardware drive...The beeping is probably a warning signal to tell you that it is not properly booting up...You should go to a Computer Repairman...

Wont boot and clicking noice

A clicking noise usually indicates a bad hard drive. Any eMachine is now very old (in computer years), with an obsolete operating system.

You should consider replacing rather than repairing.

Wont start keeps making clicking noise

If you can hear a click (quite loud) from the engine compartment, but the starter won't crank, this also could be caused by discharged battery-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the command to boot from cd on a g4 laptop on startup c button wont make it boot from cd then drops to a shell where i can type things what do i type in the shell to go to the cd drive the shell...

Try starting the machine from the hard drive normally. Put the CD in the drive. Wait until the machine starts up completely. Then,

1. Click the Apple menu (top, right corner of the screen).
2. Click "System Preferences"
3. Click "Startup Disk"
4. Click the CD icon.
5. Click the Restart button in that window. Your Mac will ask you if you are sure you want to restart. Click Restart. It should boot from your CD

Good luck! Please let us know if this helps you solve the problem.
