Copy on canon ir400 copier became very light all of a sudden with new drum. light copy (with half part very light) can be taken by setting the depth maximum. still very poor quality. changing density & developer in service mode has no effect. This problem has started after i have reset the ram using *1739*

Most likely it's time to replace the drum unit. Mfr Part #: Canon 1342A003AA, GPR-2, F43-6701-700. Those drum units only last 55,000 copies and then the copy quality starts to degrade.

The optics need to be cleaned also. If you are tech savvy, then there are two screws that hold down the glass on the right side of the top of the copier. lift up the glass, power must be off. then with a soft cloth, wip the mirrors that you can see. Other wise the corona wires will need to be cleaned in side the copier.
First of all is it black lines and dark copies or is it like strans of toner on the copies? There is a difference....... One could be the drum unit that is right next to where you put toner in, just to the left of it. It is held in by one scew. It could also be a problem with the fixing ass'y. Is the display say to empty out the waste toner and how many copies are on the copier??? These are all the things I'm guessing on.. Need a little more info...
