Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC
I am the administrator of our home based computer (Microsoft Windows XP SP2). My problem started when I tried to upgrade to SP3 all heck broke lose back in June 2008. I started experiencing all sorts of errors, including Windows not allowing me to acknowledge my password as the administrator for our home computer. I cannot even log in as a user. It does not acknowledge my password, the password that I had been using since time immemorial. Aside from hiring a tech geek, what is the solution to this problem? If you can recommend anything including opening and getting the motherboard out and resetting it through the motherboard, will appreciate your sending step by step instructions. I have yet to find an answer; I had been email everybody and had gone on various websites including Microsoft's website and nobody has shown me the right fix for this problem. I just need to get into my computer and I can pretty much take it from there. I have to get in first though. Thanks so very very very much.
This is going to be a bit of a long drawn out process OR if you are up for it there is a quick fix.
I am the securities moderator on another site and I have seen this problem many times, the problem is service pack 2 and 3 trying to install when there is malware already in existence on the machine.
I can walk you through quite a lengthy process of clearing your machine of malware or you can save all your personal files then format and reinstall Windows.
Either way it's your choice and I can help you with both.
