the pump should be low enough to get primed by the water level being above it. if it doesn't flow right away turn it off seek a plumber person. it's nice to hear someone asking questions as to avoid serious problems. have a great day:)
Could be your motor, bearings going bad or whatnot, pump flow being restricted, bad impeller, or the heater. If it sounds like metal its motor, water noise is the pump flow, and heater is other? I've heard banging and cracks from heater water heating too much and not enough flow. No mater what it is call and see if you warranty is good still.
Hi Amy, When you say " I can't get it back on" do you mean the breaker won't reset? Is there power at the spa? Is the pump running but not pumping water? Depending on the spa, you may have created an air lock in the system and need to bleed the air out. It's possible that some water got into the equipment area and shorted out the system. In which case you need to open the equipment area and dry everything out before trying to turn the breaker back on. I would need more specific info to help you with this problem.
First things first. When ever you fill your spa put the hose into where the filter goes, if it's a top load filter. Or into the skimmer if your spa has one. That way as it fills it forces more air out of the lines as it fills and limits how much air gets trapped in the lines. That being said, turn the power off, you can't bleed the pump if its running. On most pumps there is a bleed plug threaded into the face plate of the wet end. Loosen the plug until you hear air coming out. Once the pump fills with water and water is coming out of the plug, tighten it up and turn the spa on. I t may take several try's before you get rid of all the air in the lines.
Hi,
It is getting air locked... they are very suseptable to that....just open the top a crack and bleed the air off whwn it stops and it will work again..
Make sure your flow sensor moves freely. Soak the unit in vinegar if it looks dirty
I would also try bleeding the system run your pump with the bleeder screw on top of the filter cartridge open a few turns Just enough to allow the water and air to flow do this for a minute or so and then tighten the screw
Check fittings at front of pump for tightness. Threds have to been hand tight with 1.5 to 2 full turns with wrench. Also put ear to front of inlet fitting into pump and listen for air hissing, also an indication that threads arent tight enough or misaligned.
