I backed up info from computer to a DVD-R disc and now I want to place some of the at info back on computer but when I insert disc get message DISC IS WRITE PROTECTED--how do I fix?

If its just saying write protected, that means you cannot copy new information on to the disc, you should still be able to retrieve and copy information off of the disc. If you haven't tried already open up the disc from my computer, and you should be able to view the files and copy what you need.

Sims 2 bon voyage stops installing at 57%?

um-mm...some disc are really thin and have trouble reading the disc because it is spinning far to fast. This usually happens far to fast. You could also get a cleaning disc, that they usually have for DVD player, I don't know if they have one for the computer or not, but it would be great to look into. Also, one new thing that people aren't looking, because this happened to my DVD player, you see, my DVD player kept saying wrong disc, and it was because a battery had a whole in it, and the corrosion of the battery melted and destroyed the Lazar, as well as flowing into the jack. so I had to get rid of it before fixing it. Now, it probably can't copy the file, because your computer needs its hard drive updated, as well as the AGA Graphic memory, I had trouble with a game one because it didn't have enough graphic color for 3d flash games. So check for that. Take care and good luck.

When i try to install homefront i got an error of data2.cab cyclic redundancy check

This sounds like a dirty or damaged or defective disc. You might try it in another computer... or simply attempt to read the files with your disc drive just to see what happens. (Try copying some files from the disc and pasting them to your hard drive to see if they can be read.) If you keep getting the same message, or another computer really takes a lot of time to read the disc... you probably have a disc problem

Im getting a message that says "this disc requires on-the fly copying" What does that mean?

which burning software are you using
When using the on-the-fly method, insert the original disc into a drive and a recordable disc into the drive. The original disc in the drive is copied immediately without any time delay to the blank disc in the recorder. The on-the-fly method allows you to copy discs very quickly, and does not require any additional space on the disc.
In order to be able to use the on-the-fly method, you will need at least two drives: one for reading the disc and a disc burner for writing. The following requirements apply to the read drive and disc burner:

· The disc burner must feature buffer underrun protection, or the drive must be capable of delivering the data sufficiently quickly. The read speed should be at least twice as fast as the write speed.

· The read drive must be capable of delivering information on the number and type of sessions, otherwise Nero Burning ROM may not be able to produce an exact copy.

If you want to copy Audio CDs, we recommend the copy image method because the quality of the read audio files can suffer depending on the drive.

Hope this helps

I get 2/3rds of the way into installing the software and driver with the set-up disc that came with the Epson V500 Scanner, then a Error Pop Up message appears saying the following. Could Not Copy...

Check that it is installing to the correct file. Normally C Drive "Program files" I would suggest you go to the control panel and locate and completely uninstall the Epson scanner program first. This will give you a clean install. Check that during the installation, the disc may ask where you want the program to be installed. If it has a suggestion, let it instal itself, where it thinks is best.

Computer does not recognize it as a CD RW drive

When you try to write data to an optical disc, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

* You receive various disc write error messages.
* You experience issues with the drive and the built-in recording feature of Windows XP.
* You experience issues with third-party programs that you use to write data to the disc.
* You cannot read the disc in all versions of Windows.
* You cannot read the disc, or some files on the disk, by using an MP3 player.
* When you add files or folders to a disc that already contains data, some files are lost.
* Recording files to the disc is inconsistent.
* The disc recording operation is consistently unsuccessful.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshooting specific errors
If you experience one of the following errors, follow the appropriate steps to resolve the error.

* There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable CD into drive.
This error can occur if the CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device. This error can also occur if the device driver has been corrupted. To resolve this issue, see Method 3 in the "General troubleshooting" section and Method 1 in the "Advanced troubleshooting" section.

* Drive not accessible, incorrect function
This error message typically occurs when you try to write to a CD-R or a CD-RW, and the Windows XP built-in disc recording feature does not recognize the CD drive as a recordable drive. This error message may also occur if specific third-party programs are installed. For more information about how to troubleshoot this error,

when you access the CD-ROM drive, the DVD-ROM drive, or the CD-RW drive
* Error Deleting File or Folder.
Cannot delete file name. Files on this CD-ROM drive are read-only. You cannot copy or move files over to this CD-ROM drive.

This error message can occur because individual files cannot be deleted from the CD-RW. You cannot use the CD disc recording feature of Windows XP for random-access storage while you are writing to disc.

To set the service to Automatic, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc /s, and then click OK.
2. Double-click IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service.
3. Under Service Status, click Start.
4. Try to write data to a CD.

Cannot find file lxbmmcro.dll- not on Windows XP anywhere!!

Hi, this one should be easy, your installation disc is corrupt, or rather the driver, try copying the driver disc to a new blank one to override errors, this sometimes works. Do this after you have completely uninstalled any old partially installed printer files. (go to device manager and select unistall driver) Make sure you have original disc to do all this. If you have no luck with the copy, try downloading a new copy from the printers website. cheers lilacgerry

Installing windows xp home edition

i would hazard a guess that you are using a pirated corporate copy of windows, as there are 2 files on the disc that cannot be copied so you should just start again and when prompted for the two files to be installed press esc to skip it. You wont be able to get any support or updates from microsoft and unless service pack 2 is already built in the instalation which i doubt, the product key of the software will have to be changed in order to install it.

Disc drive trouble

Have you tried a system restore to a date before you downloaded the file. If it still persists go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down the list to cd/dvd drives, click on the '+' and right click on your listed drive and select uninstall. restart the notebook and then the drive will be re installed with drivers automatically.
