How can I make my HP 930c print with no color cartridge?

  • Benjamin Jeffares Dec 30, 2013

you cannot make it print with no cart, but if you have an old one, drill holes in the top and fill with water, 930c uses weight to establish ink level, after much mucking around I have done this today, printing right now :)

SOURCE: HP 930C will not print in color

Have you made sure that the plastic strip covering the cartridge is removed? Also, are both of the cartridges installed? Mine won't print if both aren't installed. Next, you might want to check that (in printer settings) your printer isn't configured to print pure black/greyscale. Otherwise, check the HP Site, they have walkthrough guides on how to print tests directly from your printer. Hope this helps. BurntLime

SOURCE: HP DeskJet 930c is leaking black ink

The printer primes and cleans the cartridges when the cartridges go to the right side of carriage. Sounds like a cartridge has either leaked or you have used it enough the the ink pool is full, or you have layed the printer on its side or back. From experence, if ink is leaking out of the printer, your probley better off getting anithe printer. I have tried to take the covers off and clean inside print, and it is a messy job.

SOURCE: HP Solution Center Screen said:

Hello,

Have you tried to replace the current cartridge with a new one? It is not uncommon for even a new cartridge to be faulty, It happens sometimes.

Also, look in your printer manual for the procedure on how to run a nozzle/cartridge cleaning and alignment.

If that does not resolve it, take the cartridge out, grab some rubbing alcohol and some q-tips. Put some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and GENTLY wipe the contacts on the cartridge AND on the contacts in the printer where the cartridge installs. BE CAREFUL! Make sure no cotton from the q-tip gets left behind on either.

Good luck and thanks for using the fixya forums!

SOURCE: hp color laserjet 2600 n it will not let me print

hp 2600n printer has no overriding settings for bypassing empty color cartridges.if you try it by swapping chips like we do on other models the colour printing will permanantly disable and will never print colour even after you replace colour cartridges.thats the way hp has set up 2600 laserjet.dont even try any bypassing method or you will spoil whole printer.many people fail the printer by just trying to bypass it someway.
thanks.

ACQUIRED A MINT CONDITION 930C. FULL ACTIONS ON TEST BUT NO PRINT IMAGE. HOW CAN I TEST IT FURTHER EVEN THOUGH BOTH CARTRIDGES ARE OLD & COULD BE EMPTY

you need ink to test print an image. even the alignment test tool uses ink to align the print heads. so without ink you cannot print anything!

Is there any way to disable the color cartridge in my HP 930c? I want to print only in black.

Under your printer preferences there is a way to print gray scale. SO even if your image is in color, it will print black and white. Every printer interface is different, but when you go to print, there's usually a properties or setting button that will bring you to another page from the initial print menu. here is where you would choose gray scale.

If you try for black with only a color cartridge, it'll come out a dark green or blue color. Or on some cases, it will tell you it's out of black and you can't print. Most HP printers need at both cartridges in the printer for it to print.

Only printing in black after inserting new colour cartridge

If color is coming out gray then you may have grayscale selected in your print settings. If color is just missing, check to see if the tape on the back and bottom of the cartridge has been compelety removed. If that is not it then run the head cleaning. If that doesn't correct it, then you just got a bad cartridge.

Colors don't print correctly. such as green prints as red. what's messed up?

The color cartridge for this printer has three colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow) within it. So if one runs out or is dried up if throws the color out of wack. Try running the head cleaning first but replacing the color cartridge should correct the problem.

Printer wont print

Turn the printer on. Remove the cartridges. Gently clean the electric contacts on the cartridges and the cartridge carrier. Put the cartridges back in. If the light is still flashing, and your printer won't print, one of your cartridges is faulty. I suggest you go to the refill shop and consult them which cartridges needs a replacement.
Does any message appears on your monitor when you try to print something? Usually, a message saying "problem with black/color cartridge" or something similar, that's why I am asking.

Printing problem HP Deskjet 930C

I'm only guessing here but try cleaning the contact points of the cartridge using tissue but not touching the nozzles. Then clean also the contact points on the printer. If that doesn't work then I would bring it to HP for a check up. Hope this helps.
