SD card formatting problems

I have a Sanyo VPC-CG65EX, digital movie camera, and have purchased an 8gb sd card. When I turn on the camera it requests formatting, after formatting I can record fine. When I next turn the camera on it requests formatting again.
I have tried formatting with an SD card formatter on the PC, but with no luck.

Can you please help ?

Preformat : By Fix-shad0w

#1
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

WHAT SIZE MEMORY CARD

The VPC-S670 works with MMC and SD cards, which max out at 2GB.

There are nonstandard SD cards up to 8GB in size, which may (or may not) work with the camera. But make sure it's an SD card, not an SDHC card. The camera will not work with SDHC cards.

Can the sanyo VPC-v6 take an 8gb sd card?

No, the camera can only support an SD card. An 8 GB card is an SDHC (SD High Capacity) card. However, the specs of the camera given in the manual list a 1 GB card as the highest density card known to work (but only one brand was tested).

The owner's manual for the Sanyo VPC-C6 is available at the Sanyo site. The direct link is http://us.sanyo.com/dynamic/product/Downloads/VPC-C6_OM_English-18468437.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I inserted a new SD card and camera says card needs formatting but when I try to format it says can't read card

Make sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position. Also, be sure this is an SD card, not an SDHC which your camera cannot use.

Use a separate card reader to download your pics to a computer...then, format the card in the camera.

I have the VPC-S600. My husband accindently formatted the SD card with photos on it. Can I recover the pictures?? They are extremely important??? The Sd card is a Polaroid 2GB by PNY Please help????

Once the card is formatted, all is gone. A computer has a sector of the hard drive that "format" doesn't touch but portable storage devices don't have that protection.

I CAN'T UPLOAD MY PICS WITH THE NEW CAMERA I PURCHASED BECAUSE MY COMPUTER IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE SANYO DISC THAT CAME WITH IT.

If your using the camera with a sd card and you have a sd slot on your computer you will not need a disk. Just insert the sd card to the computer go to start > computer> then click on the sd card and the pictures should be there.

SD card won't format

Did you update the Firmware of the camera? The VPC-C6 can read and write to SDHC memory cards up to 4GB but it would require to have the latest Firmware being installed on the camera. Firmware can be downloaded via http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/english/support/updata/vpc_c6/index.html
