When I turn on the tv I get a hissing sound coming from within the unit but no picture is displayed. Sound comes through speakers but that's all I get. I can't seem to find any relevant info regarding the components causing this issue. I hope someone out there has been able to remedy this issue.

It is a bad power supply for the backlight. That is the only section capable of such a noise. Good luck i hope this helps. I know i have heard similar sound from a laptop with similar issues! Prodzilla

This problems ur tv it is having,it could be only causes by two sources one a bad or dead incomming broadcasting signal wire that plug into the tv Tuner signal board.Take out the incomming signal wire if u have a loud blank static noise picture on the lcd screen for a picture, than it is the incomming broadcasting signal cable wire, that u call the cable company for the replacement of the wire. The other are the 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards are dead, not giving the LCD screen panel a help to produced a backlight for a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those 1 or 2 refurbishes long LCD inverter boards for the replacement. Not the tv power supply board problem, because u have power and statics noises came out of the tv speakers, mean tv have power and power board is good.

Vizio tv prolems. TV comes on normal for about 10 seconds (bright w/ colors) then picture dims with a hissing sound from the electronics. Anyone has an idea of a repair video to watch.

The hissing sound is over current from a shorted component. you best bet is to call around and see if anyone can repair it. Ask price first because you might be better off just buying a new one.

Sound but no picture

Hello!
Does sound comes out of TV speakers? Or you have "home theater" hooked up to?
In first occasion: TV turns on, stays on, display blinks once, then nothing?
Inverter is at fault. Second occasion: TV turns on, stays on, display glows dark, sound OK, no picture: T-con board at fault. Third occasion: TV turns on, shuts off, sound is coming through "home theater"-OK. Power supply or inverter, or T-con are at fault. TV need major diagnostics and repair in every case. Let me know if you can handle that. Will guide you through the process.
Thanks,
Alex.

Hissing sound from speakers and the picture turns off.

That model set was known for Chinese capacitors that failed, replace the power supply or look for bulged caps and replace them if your able to

No sound from stereo

If you can hear a hiss then the spkrs and amp are OK. It sounds like you're not on whichever source you're wanting to hear or it is on mute. Make sure ther is no function enabled that turns the sound off or over-rides it (like a tape monitor or AUX in...).

Hissing Sound

A hissing sound that comes from the back of the set (not from the speaker) usually indicates a high voltage leak, most likely around the "suction cup" at the top of the picture tube or around the flyback transformer. Remove the back of the set and turn it on, and when you hear the hissing sound, shut off all the lights in the room and you should be able to see a purple-ish or white-ish glow from the spot that is hissing. Shut the set off, discharge the high voltage and clean and seal the problem area. Of course this should be done by someone experienced with stopping high voltage leaks.
