I have a GE Side by Side (model GSL22JFRJBS) and am having several problems and I'm not sure if they are connected or if I just have bad luck. 1st: the freezer and fridge are not staying cold. The freezer wont freeze a small cup of water and the fridge doesn't keep beer cold. 2nd: A light on the bottom (above my two fruits and veggies bins) had the plastic guard fall on it, burn the bulb and the guard. I replaced the light bulb with a fresh new one and it won't turn on. 3rd: I'm getting water to freezer side (in door water works) but the icemaker doesn't. I poured a bit of tap water into the ice tray and it started to freeze a bit but the freezer doesn't get cold enough to produce cubes. Otherwise, there is no water in the tray. What to do?? Any help would be appreciated!!!

HI change the main board its about $150-200. Will fix all your problems except the lightbulb would be a lightsocket problem or the bulb you put in is bad, or door switch.

could be several items.... 1st you want to make sure you have a good filter in the unit if you havent changed in a while could be a problem... 2nd alot of the g.e. models have dual water valves and it could be the water valve solenoid is bad... if you have mechanical capability you can go to rear of unit and disconnect the line going to dispenser and hold a cup at valve and have someone depress the dispenser .... if you are getting water there that eliminates the valve and the actual dispenser switch ...if you are not getting nothing will need to test for 120 volts ac current and make sure the valve is getting power when you hit the dispenser lever. if no power the problem is going to ne the actual dispenser switch ... hope this helps

Problem solved. After wet-vacuuming the floor several times, took off the drain pump. Unscrewed the drain plug and found a "penny" in the chamber. The perimeter was badly and disfigured and looking like a train ran over it.
1st thot it created a pump wear stoppage. But after a time, I found the real problem: The penny flipping around the plastic chambe created a slice-looking hole on one of drain tube chambers on the side that could not be seen when installed.
use a thermometer make sure freezer is normal operating temp if freezer is cold enough and water is filling ice maker you may have bad ice maker very simple system make sure your getting water 1st thing to check is for water if you have water and freezer is cold youll have ice
Hi, With the information you supplied i'm going to assume there is an ice build up at the rear of the freezer. Your problem is going to be with your defrost system. I will also assume you have the ability to repair this yourself. This is going to be one of three problems with your refridgerator, 1st thing to do is remove shelfs and panel in the back of the freezer...you should see ice build up on the evaporator...don't worry get a hair dryer and melt the ice. Next locate the wires for the heater...using a multi meter test the heater for condinuity...if the heater is bad replace it, If the heater is good replace the defrost thermostat..the stat normally is a barrel looking part clipped onto the evaporator pipe. The last possible problem could be the evaporator fan, have you heard the fan running in the past few hours?..if you are not sure pull the panel out to where you can see fan and watch it over an hour to see if it turns. A simple defrost may not be all that is needed. There is a piece that connects to the coils called a defrost timer or a " clixon " This is most likely the problem. Have it replaced and that should get you back in business. Hope this helps. Good luck.
it could be an air flow problem. Pull the unit out, unplug it. Clean out any dust, dirt, or anything else you see in there. Also when you push it back in make sure you have a few inches clearance behind and to each side of unit . Good Luck.

check the defrost heater it could be bad if it is good change the sensor on the top of the evaperator coil it is white and about 1 inch long, has white wires connected to it
Replace the Main Control board it is on the back left side embeded in the wall behind a panel with about 4 screws the part# is WR55X10552 will cost you about $100 bucks it is plug and play and easy to change PS:This is a known problem with this GE Model any questions let me know.
