Get rid of spam

Unsolicited junk e-mail, or spam, is an unwelcome and often offensive byproduct of the Internet's success. Although there's no guarantee you can avoid all spam, there are ways to avoid looking at most of it.Instructions

  1. Basic prevention
    • 1 If you're already getting spam messages, check with your Internet service provider to see whether it has a spam-prevention option that scans your incoming e-mail for known spammers.
    • 2 If you're lucky enough not to be getting spam now, then sign up for a second (free) e-mail address from a service such as Yahoo or Hotmail. Use this address exclusively for e-commerce, mailing-list subscriptions and bulletin-board postings of any kind. Reserve your main e-mail address for private e-mail to and from friends.
    Rule filtering
    • 1 Create an e-mail folder called Suspected Spam.
    • 2 Use the filtering feature in your e-mail program to create rules that redirect spam messages to your Suspected Spam folder. Most spam is not addressed to its recipient by name.
    • 3 Define a rule for incoming mail that says, "If my name appears in the To: or cc: field, then move this message to the Inbox." The procedure for defining rules varies among e-mail programs, so you should consult your program's Help feature to learn exactly how this works.
    • 4 Define individual rules to catch e-mail that isn't addressed to you personally but that you nevertheless want to receive, such as messages from lists you've subscribed to. Have these rules redirect the relevant messages to the Inbox or to special folders that you have created for mail from those sources--for instance: "If the Sender field includes 'MyList,' then send this message to the MyList folder."
    • 5 Define a final rule that sends all other e-mail that hasn't already been redirected by one of your other rules to the Suspected Spam box. For instance, a rule that says, "If the Sender field isn't 'XYXYXYXYY,' then move this message to the Suspected Spam folder" would work as a catchall.

  • Never reply to a spam message, even to request that your name be removed from the list. That just tells the spammers that your address is valid.

People are trying to e-mail me but the e-mails are not going through.

Hi

Check if the Spam filter is directing your friend's e-mails to the Spam folder.

If so. open the e-mails and click Not Spam to send them back to your Inbox.

Check the Spam Folder like this regularly and the Spam Filter will gradually learn which your friends e-mails are and automatically direct them to the Inbox.

Test it yourself by sending yourself an e-mail.

I hope this helps.

My freinds don't receive my email

It's possible that their e-mail service is automatically putting your e-mail into a "Junk Mail" folder because of your yahoo.com e-mail address. Have them check for your e-mail in this, or similarly named folder.

Another way to help ensure delivery is for them to add your e-mail address to their Address Book. Many e-mail services treat this as a "White List" meaning any e-mail received from an e-mail address found in the recipient's Address Book is a known "good" e-mail and is not spam / junk e-mail.

Finally, check to make sure you have your friends' correct email addresses.

The next time you try to send an e-mail, cc yourself using your own e-mail address. This way, you will know if your e-mail was properly sent and the problem is somewhere on the recipient's end.

If that mail, that you recive is a classic spam, then only solution is to filter it and put it in spam.
You can remove your mail from mass list, only if you do subscribed on some of the mailing lists.

My e mail is sending e mails on its own and then sending me undeliverable messages. It is using the addresses from my e mail account. This is happening when compute is on and off. What can I do? I have...

This is an indication that someone is using your e-mail address to spam people, it is called "Spoofing".

Spammers usually use legitimate e-mail addresses to spam lots of people. But some of those e-mail addresses that the spammers trying to spam are invalid. Because they're just guessing it.

Spammers usually gets a legitimate e-mail addresses by hacking the server of some stores. From the server, they could get legitimate e-mail addresses.

People's email addresses are being registered to the store server once you purchase something online. But there's no need to worry because your e-mail address will never compromise.

Here's what you need to do:
1. Access your e-mail.
2. Open the Mailer Daemon (bounced-back message).
3. Click on Submit as Spam button.

The server of your e-mail will try to locate the real sender via the IP address that the spammer's used in sending e-mails. Then the server should trace and block the sender.

But the most effective one is to create a new e-mail account and inform all your friends about your new e-mail address. And try to avoid buying things online.

Good luck and have a great day!

If your emails are being marked as spam by Yahoo, then you could try this
(1) send an email to one of your friend's yahoo mail
(2) ask your friend to go into their yahoo mail Spam
folder, open the message from you, and click the "Not Spam" button.

I sent a friends email address to spam by mistake,I havent got any emails since how do I retrieve the address from spam and is it blocked by sending to spam

Hi, It is not your fault that your mail to your friend entered spam. Email service providers usually have that issue especially yahoo. Gmail is better in that it accepts most mail without spamming then. Mails in spam folders are usually automatically deleted after some time on Yahoo. What you need to do is tell your friends who use Yahoo to include your name in their address books. That way, when they get mail from you, it will not enter spam. You can always check your "Sent" folder for a copy of the mail you sent earlier that didn't get to them.
Cheers.

Name of Stephanie Carpenter in my spam mail

the mail you receive is most likely spam, if you post your email address on public places, just like you did here, a spamming program / bot that looks for such emails will pick it up and put it on a list of emails to send spam email to. over time you will probably get more and more spam email in different peoples names and so on, messages for viagra, drugs, etc completely useless spam email.
