Whirlpool washing machine agitator

The agitator has under the cap what are called agitator dogs. They wear out causing agitator to slip. They sell a kit at appliancepartspros.com cost $10. Easy to replace comes with instructions.

Is this a two piece agitator? You may just need dogs, they are inside the agitator. Rotate the top of the agitator back and forth, top should engage the bottom portion when turning counter clockwise.

There are 3 plastic dogs that have teeth. They become worn smooth and will not engage the agitator. Change these for about $12 and you will be back in business.

youll need to removethe agitator first, then while standing on corners of agitator pull up seperatin gthe 2 havles, dogs are right there

You will need a set of agitator dogs. Pull off your agitator cap and look under it, you will see 4(four)small tabs that catch and release the top 1/2 of the agitator.

it will spin freely try to move it back and forth in full spins. if it spins both ways you need to replace the agitator dogs

my whirlpool washing machine's agitator bottom is working but the top is not. How can I fix this myself?

after removing the agitator from the machine (7/16 bolt) i place the agitator on the floor, step on either side of it and pull up on the top half, ittl come loose, needs a little help! a word of advice though is after replacing the agitator dogs, turn the entire agitator upside down and insert the bolt through the entire agitator assy and keep constatn pressure on the bolt as you turn it boack over and try to realign with thte tranny shat. ( you see the parts wanna seperate as you try to reinstall them otherwise)
