I have connected my laptop to my cinema surround sound via a Gold 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 Male RCA Phono Cable. It works and gives a good "Stereo" sound. As i have a 5.1 system how can i get more than just stereo. Is there a 3.5mm - optical out converter and would this do the job. Regards Ian

Well you COULD just try and change your sound settings to 5.1 surround in sound properties. that should fix it.

SOURCE: Hi, How can i connect my Acer Aspire 5535 laptop

If you use a 3.5mm stereo jack plug lead to twin phono plugs, you should be able to plug your sound into the input of you Home Cinema System.

I have an old Denon stereo receiver DRA - 565 RD. Do you know how I can connect my iPhone to the receiver to play music from my iPhone?

You need a 3,5mm male stereo connector to RCA male jacks (see attached image). Plug the 3.5mm jack to your iPhone and the RCA jacks (red & white or red & black) to your Denon Receiver's CD in or Tape 1 or 2 PB (at the rear of the unit). Then select the input where you plugged the RCA to (front of receiver: CD / Tape-2 / Tape-1). Hope this will help. 25303676-z0ul41frrnrex4ege2epffps-1-0.jpg

How to connect it to the surroundsystem and the 4 speckers .

Most likely you conneect the MP3 player to the surround system with a 3.5 mm Stereo Plug to RCA cable. The 3.5mm end connects to the MP3 player, and the RCA end to the surround system.

I just got a multimedia surround system with subwoofer.Spa7650/05, 180w.The subwoofer has three audio connections, front, centre and rear,My tv only has an audio coaxial.I can't connect it.What adapter...

Hello,
Firs of all lets get agree on something..The subwoofer has three audio connections for "output " to :front, centre and rear speakers...these are not for "input"..Your powered SUB provides necessary signal for other spekers..
You can connect TV audio coaxial to SUB input with a RCA cable.....if your SUB does not have "RCA input " probably it should have "3,5mm Haedphone female Jack"..
if this is the case you need to buy a cable ; one end 3,5mm MALE headphone jack and the other end 2xRCA stereo (or 1x RCA for mono or you may need "Y cable " ) to be connected to your TV...
And you need to connect front, centre and rear speakers to your SUB as well...

Want to connect pc speakers and subwoofer to lg37lc55 tv unfortunaly it doesnt have an earphone 3.5 connection point. My other smaller tv does, the speakers and subwoofer consist of a white and red audio...

Hello,
Your TV should have an AUDIO OUTPUT other than optic..at least " Headphones" output..
You can connect TV audio output with a RCA cable.
white and red audio jack....
since SUB has both RCA and "3,5mm Headphone female Jack"..here are the options;
** you need to buy a cable one end 3,5mm MALE headphone jack and the other end 2xRCA stereo (or 1x RCA for mono or you may need "Y cable " ) to be connected to your TV...
** or 2x RCA
white and red audio jack and connect from your TV..
**" "Headphones" output to SUB with 3,5 male-to-male cable ( the least recommended)
And you need to connect front, centre and rear speakers to your SUB as well...

I have Radioshack wireless headphones with a 30 foot range. I cannot hook them up to my new Panasonic Viera 42 inch HD T.V. - The "audio outlet" is a square and the headphones only have red and...

hi there.

At present, the square connector is what is called an "Optical" connector.  It's purely digital and transmits digital data via what looks to us like a RED LIGHT.  Your headphones are incompatible. Your heaphones have an analog connection on RCA Phono type connections.  The type you usually get on the back of hifi equipment.

The pannasonics DO have a headphone socket, but it is the small 3.5mm type socket.  a small round hole that looks slightly larger than a pin head.  It normally has a small diagram of a pair of headphones above or below the socket to indicate what it is.

In order to connect your headphones to your set you will need a stereo, male 3.5mm jack to two RCA Phono jacks.

If your current lead on your headphones has "male" ends, the red and white ends should have silver or gold points sticking out.

If your current lead on your headphones has "female" ends, the red and white ends should have silver or gold surrounds with holes in.

With this in mind, if you have male ends you will require a stereo 3.5mm jack to stereo female Rca Phono vice versa so that they basically lock into eachother forming a "Constant chain".

I have tried to explain this as best I can, I hope you've managed to get the idea of what I'm saying.

You will either need this :

or this :

Sometimes the colours of connectors vary.  Just remember that Red to Red (for right hand side)  and White to White or Black To White  or Black To Black (for left)

How can i connect my advent qrc430 to a hd television

There are two options available with this laptop. Unfortunatley you will not be able to produce a High Definition picture, but nether the less it is possible to connect it to a HD TV.
The connections available are;
1x VGA - You will need a VGA Cable (as long as your HD TV has a VGA/PC input) cheapest found on Ebay. There is also a VGA to HDMI cable. Still wont be HD but an alternative to think about.

1x S-Video (TV-Out) - You will need a S-Video Cable (make sure HD TV has this input) also cheapest on Ebay.

Both of these options do not produce audio through them so for this you will need a 3.5mm audio jack to 3.5mm audio jack. Plug one end into your earphone socket on your laptop and the other end into your HD TV PC Audio in socket/Audio in socket. If you have a Cinema/surround system you will need a 3.5mm audio jack to stereo phono, as long as the surround system has an audio input.

Hello i have a medion 5.1 active sound system and i am trying to install it to an acer 5335 laptop but for some reason it will not work. i am using the usb method can you give me some advise and help...

hello Paul,

I understand that you wish to connect an laptop computer that has a standard stereo out(2 channels), earphoe jack or adio out to an active stereo system that supports the dolby 5.1 multichannel souround sound.

That is where the problem starts. The active sound system has more input channels than the two stereo channels given by the laptop, so connecting them via adaptor (audio out from laptop, earphone-like, 3.5 mm' male' jack to red and black chinch plug,'male' version to stereo L(left) and R(right) channel in at the active system) may provide you with extra stereo sound enhancement(like any other amplifier would), but no real surround sound..

To solve this, you would need a stationary desktop PC with an extra surround soundcard
that has all the multi channel out in it, as there is no chance to upgrade your laptop with such devices I am sorry to tell you that you perform an impossible task to get surround sound from your laptop.
