Dont know how to get the words to stop comming up when they talk captins on

If you have a cable box or satellite tv receiver connected to this television, and you are using the cable company/satellite tv company remote control the captions are not coming from your television. They are not controlled by your television or your television's remote. There is usually a hidden menu where captions can be enabled and disabled. You reach it by turning off your cable box and then immediately pressing the menu button.
