The first thing to check is to make sure you plug you PC to the backed up outlet on your UPS.
As far as I remember only 3 out 6 outlets on that UPS are battery backed up. The other 3 are just surge protected.

It's printed on the UPS panel.

Hope this will help you

UPS backup problem

Hi Shrichandra,

Make sure that the battery you are using from the APC UPS is the correct one for the EnerG UPS, just because it fits doesn't make it the right one.

Inverter fault

This unit will require you to Brain dead the whole UPS.
To see if it is actually a condition that exists with the hardware or if it was just a lock condition.
Steps:
1)Power down unit completely
2)Unplug all batteries
3)Unplug from wall

4)Leave unplugged for about 5 minutes or so WITH NO POWER AT ALL.

5)Plug batteries back in
6)Plug back into wall
7) Turn unit back on

Log into console of UPS and see if the condition returns.
If it does not return your good to go.

If the error returns. You have to replace the WHOLE battery pack.

APC has told me their units are typically good for 4-6 years, after that their units cannot hold the same tolerances as they did when they were brand new.

Hope this helps.

Error light in my apc smart ups sc 1500va ups

1. Four beeps every 30seconds (On Battery LED will be illuminated)
This alarm indicates that the Battery PowerSupplied outlets are now supplying battery power as opposed to power from theutility. If the UPS determines that the input utility power is unsafe for yourcomputer equipment, the UPS will switch to battery power.
Note: Ifthe power disturbance is brief, you may only hear one or two beeps.

2. Continuous Beeping (On Battery LED will beilluminated)
This alarm indicates that a Low Batterycondition has been reached and that the UPS will soon shutdown. Once the UPStransfers to On Battery operation, it can only stay on battery for a limitedamount of time. The UPS will sound this alarm about two minutes before thebatteries are totally exhausted. Once exhausted, the UPS will shutdown and turnoff its output power to your equipment. If you hear this tone you shouldimmediately shutdown your computer to prevent data loss or corruption.

3. Continuous Beeps for 30 seconds (BackUPS OFFICE 250 and 280 ONLY)
This alarm indicates the unit has detected anOverload condition after it has performed a self-test during start-up.

4. Continuous Two-Tone Beep
This alarm indicates a severe Overload wasdetected while the unit was on-battery operation. This tone will continue tosound until the unit shuts down.

5. Continuous Tone (On Battery LED will beflashing)

Backup power ends quickly even with new battery

What is the load on the unit? How old is it?

The symptom can occur if the load is too large. It will also happen when the unit reaches a certain age.

I've found that the low-end consumer UPS's should be replaced when the battery fails. The charging circuitry usually fails to charge the battery even with a new battery soon after the replacement.

The way I check if the battery or the UPS charging system has failed is with a voltmeter to give the current voltage and a variable DC power supply (whatever is appropriate for the battery) to attempt to charge the battery. I can watch the battery discharge with an oscilliscope if I want a full trace of the unit.) Charge the battery fully then watch the unit over time. If the battery itself is bad, you won't get the full charge or it will discharge as soon as it is removed from the power supply.

I hope this helps.

(the server UPS's tend to be a better choice if you want to replace the battery and keep the UPS.)

Its not starts properly,my batteries are in good condition

Normally if this UPS is in working condition and the batteries are also good, you should be able to start the UPS by just using the battery cabinet. As soon as power is applied the fan must run and the 4 yellow led for battery/load should lit up. If it is completely dead, then a qualified technician will have to check the internal circuit. It has one main board on which all power components are mounted and a separate control board. Generally there is a 80/100 A than goes opened. I hope you can give us more information if the UPS is completely dead or the led comes up

Strange noise comes out from the ups after a power cut

The Back-UPS Office unit has five different tones or alarms:

Less back up time

I found the following on APC's web-site for the APC Back-UPS, this will hopefully fix the problem:
You can also perform a manual runtime calibration. This could be done if you have changed your equipment load or battery. Stop the PowerChute software from running; disconnect the serial cable between the computer and UPS. Next unplug the UPS from the wall and let it run on battery until it reaches low battery. Once it reaches low battery plug it back into the wall outlet and let it recharge. Recharge time can take up to 4 hours.

APC back UPS 400 fails to give back up

I have the same problem with an apc smart-ups VS 650.

New batteries - charge in batteries is good (also tested under load).

When AC power fails, no power is supplied to PC connectors by the UPS.

UPS self test works fine. UPS does not report any problems via software - Power Management under Windows XP.
