The set uses two boards to drive the screen --one for each half or side.

Different names are used like sustain or in LCD sets inverter.

This is probably a TV setting. You may have a SCREEN button on the remote.

Does that set have whats called a color wheel, if so that maybe you problem, and replacement is how you fix it.

The ICS is dead,the convergence is dead.The 2 convergence ICS control colors misalignments.3D pictures,distorted picture and colors alignments.

Is good that you hit it and it reacts,very likely you have loose conections in different places but for the distorted picture you need to check the horizontal driver transformer and flyback after that is corrected you need to check the complete chassis for loose conections.Take your time.Good luck.

Sounds like you've got whats called a cold solder connection somewhere in the horizontal width control circuit or a connection in the sweep section. Should'nt be two expensive but unless you have had some soldering and troubleshooting experience I would leave this on to the pros. Good Luck
