The paper will not flow from where it stack into the printer evenly. It pulls the left side way before the right causing it to get jammed. Any ideas or help is appreciated or if I need to throw away and get a new one.
I currently have the same issue with mines. At first it was giving me an error message telling me to insert plain paper. I have been using the same type of paper for the past 6mnths and now it wont pull the paper through. Check for foreign objects in the paper path (I did a lot of these and pulled everything from hair curlers to dead mice!), if it's not this then contact Lexmark for a replacement paper roller, this is a common problem with Lexmark printers (Dell just rebadge them).
Usually, these problems are connected to paper dust on the rollers, or the rubber has gotten slick with use. Use dry, clean fingers to rub across the rollers as they are turned by hand. Try cleaning the interior out with a vacuum blowing, not sucking. These rollers hardly ever wear out.
I first wonder if you have children. if so, then open the lid and/ or look in the paper feed area for plastic tools, band aids, etc. (worked in tech support and once had a gerbil stuck in a printer by it's tail! OUCH!)
if you can't see anything, then take a letter sized piece of poster board and try to run it through, that should clear any foreign debris (such as paper clips or pieces of post-it notes that you may not be able to see) good luck!
On the paper jam ,I tried to pull the ink cartridge over to center. It came over a little & then it jammed up.I noticed the ink cartridge lock tab had popped up & jammed it to the right , once I got the tab back in place the code cleared & it works good now.
I don't have a dell. But I do get that 1-side pulling problem with some of my printers. I solved that problem by positioning the paper with the paper guide (which is movable) to the exact size of the paper so that there is no free play. Usually this solves the problem. The paper guide must be exact, not too tight or too much free play for the paper to move around. Let me know if this helps.
remove all paper, open cover and see if you can see stuck paper.....never try to pull out backwards...try to pull out in direction of normal paper travel..if you absolutely have to pull out backwards unplug printer first and be gentle as to not break rollers or gear(s)
Below are the various sizes and types of paper supported by your printer. Make sure you donnot load the tray beyond the maximum limit , otherwise the rollers may not pull the paper correctly
• Letter* • Legal • B5 • A4 • A5 • 3x6 • 4x6 • L • 2L • 5x7 • Hagaki • 10x15 cm • 13x18 cm 25 greeting cards, index cards, postcards, or photo cards • The print side of the cards faces up. • The cards are centered on the paper support, in between the left and right paper guides. • The paper guide rests against the left edge of the cards. • You select Normal or Photo print quality. 25 sheets of photo or glossy paper • The glossy side of the paper faces up. • The paper is centered on the paper support, in between the left and right paper guides. • You select Normal or Photo print quality. • The paper is loaded vertically against the right side of the paper support. 10 iron-on transfers • You follow the loading instructions on the packaging. • The blank side of the transfer faces up. • The transfer is centered on the paper support, in between the left and right paper guides. • You select Normal or Photo print quality.
