    Same problem here - it appears that many 5th Gen ipods are having this problem. Everything works fine minus the sound from both the headphone jack and auxiliary port on the bottom.

    Other threads recommended calling Apple's number to inquire about a replacement at 1-800-275-2273. I just tried, and because it is out of warranty they said there is nothing they can do. You may try anyway and see what happens.

    yes that sounds stupid. yes volume is all the way up. Aux port has no sound, cd has no sound. the only sound i get is from the radio.

  • reed151 Jan 09, 2009

    I don't know if its the exact same problem, but similar. It will play most of the song but will all of a sudden just stop playing, but not every song, it played free bird all the way through, go figure, but it wont even play take the money and run halfway through. I know it doesn't make any difference what song it is but I was just baffled that it would play a 7 minute plus song but not a song less than 3. I scroll through the inputs back to usb and it will resume. I just put it in about 5 hours ago, so maybe I can figure out something.

    I have jsut received a new ford with a sony 6000 CD with multiuchanger. The glovebox contains aux in and a usb port. I have 2 separate 5th gen ipods and i have tried attaching each to the usb port. When I do this, the ipod displays the Ford logo, with the text also reading "ok to disconnect". The card radio display lists all the songs, and even the seconds counting up on the current track... BUT NO SOUND. Both the ipods do exactly the same thing. I have to assume the connection is fine as the car radio sees all the tracks. I have no idea what else to try...

    I recently bought an Eclipse CD5100 with

    BODY { FONT-FAMILY:Verdana; FONT-SIZE:10pt }
    P { FONT-FAMILY:Verdana; FONT-SIZE:10pt }
    DIV { FONT-FAMILY:Verdana; FONT-SIZE:10pt }
    TD { FONT-FAMILY:Verdana; FONT-SIZE:10pt }

    iPC-106 iPOD adaptor. When I connect my iPOD (160Gb Classic) it's recognised by the head unit and the 'playing' symbol is displayed on the iPod but no sound comes out & I can't scroll through or change tracks using the head unit. To make matters worse, the iPod remains 'frozen' after disonnecting and I have to do a 'reset' to get it working again. If I tehn re-connect to the Eclipse head unti it works OK. Weird eh?

Hi I have a Kenwood KDC-W5541u and the same problem: iPod appears to connect correctly and tracks appear to be playing, but no sound comes out. I checked that the iPod and cable worked fine with other devices, and concluded that the kenwood was the problem. I found a tiny "reset" button beside the headphone jack, which I pushed in, and when I turned the system back on, it was working again.

6th gen. nano has shuffle issues. plays same song over and over

The iPod's shuffle feature lets you randomize playback of albums, songs or even your entire music library. You may also find this feature useful if you want to listen to forgotten tracks in your library or discover songs you haven't listened to yet. Disabling the shuffle feature will return playback of a song list to its standard consecutive order. You can enable and disable the shuffle feature at any time.

Navigate to the main menu. Select "Settings." Scroll to the "Shuffle" option. Select "Songs" or "Albums." If you select "Songs," the iPod Classic will shuffle the songs on whatever song list you listen to. If you select "Albums," the iPod Classic will play all songs of an album you select in order and then randomly select another album. Navigate to the playlist or album to which you want to listen. Play a song to initiate the shuffle. b> iPod Nano and iPod Touch Tap the "Songs" icon on your nano home screen. If you are using an iPod Touch, open the "iPod" application. Navigate to the song list, playlist or album you want to play. Tap the "Shuffle" icon at the top of the list to activate the feature.

Ipod wont play musik :S

Sounds like you need to restore it in iTunes and reload it. It sounds to me like the data is corrupted and needs to be reloaded.
Connect it to the computer and open iTunes. See if it lists the songs. If it does you may be able to fix the database by clicking on the first track and then pressing shift and clicking on the last track. That will select all of the songs. Then right click on the list and select either check selected or uncheck selected. It may rebuild the database and fix the problem. If it doesn't, reconnect it and when it shows up in the list on the left, left click on the iPod once and the info screen will come up. That will tell you what version on firmware you are running and so on. Under that there are 2 buttons. Update and Restore. Select restore and then reload it. That restores it back to factory but it will wipe all the data. One of those solutions should fix it.

Cheers and best wishes

Seems the playlist detais arent geting removed, only the songs.

Deleted songs

Look in the music folder (top left of the main itunes page). You should see all of your songs there. If they are there, then plug in your ipod, click on the name of your ipod (left hand ide of the screen) and check the box on the main screen that says (manually manage music). Then go back to the main music folder again, and select all of the songs, (you can do this by clicking on the first ong in the list, hold down the shift key and then click on the last song in the list), then drag and drop all of the songs onto your ipod in the list at the left.
