Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the telephone base. Plug the telephone base into a different working electrical outlet not controlled by a wall switch. Move the handset closer to the telephone base. It may be out of range. Reset the telephone base by unplugging the electrical power to the base. Wait for 15 seconds and plug it back in again. Allow up to one minute for the cordless handset and the telephone base to synchronize. Other electronic products such as HAM radios and other DECT phones can cause interference with your cordless phone. Try installing your phone as far away as possible from these types of electronic devices.

Try the following:
1/ Make sure the power cord is securely plugged in at the base and that it's powered on ie: light is on and working etc..
2/ Reset the telephone base. Unplug the electrical power. Wait for
approximately 15 seconds, then plug it back in. Allow up to one minute for the cordless handset and telephone base to reset.
3/ Place the cordless handset in the telephone base for one minute to allow the cordless handset and base to synchronize.
If a telephone line is presented as POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) or a standard telephone will plug into the line, then the Gigaset A220 will work on it.
There isn't any converter available. The technology used for caller ID is different and the telephone was made for US use. There's no way to change the telephone to make it compatible. You will need to either get a new telephone made for your country, or find an external caller ID display unit.
Make sure the ringer is on . • Make sure the telephone line cord and power adapter are plugged in properly . • The cordless handset may be too far from the telephone base. Move it closer to the telephone base. • There may be too many extension telephones on the telephone line to allow all of them to ring simultaneously. Try unplugging some of them. • If the other telephones in your home are having the same problem, the problem is in the wiring or local service. If another telephone has the same problem, the problem is in the telephone jack. Contact your local telephone company (charges may apply). • The telephone line cord might be malfunctioning. Try installing a new telephone line cord. • Remove and re-insert the battery and place the cordless handset in the telephone base. • Wait for the cordless handset to synchronize with the telephone base. Get another telephone and connect the telephone cord from your cordless phone to it. If it works, then you know the problem is with your GE cordless phone. If it doesn't, try replacing the telephone cord. If still no good, call your telephone company.
