Hi, do you have a studio and what kind or type of sound card do you use?

  • Anonymous Mar 29, 2011

I'm not familiar with Macs but try going tohttp://audacity.sourceforge.net/download... and look at the system requirements for the version you need. The Help tab on the site contains lots of info too. Great program. I'm using the newest beta version om Windows and found that the manual is quite useful once you find it on their site.

I think this is because the G Track is an output as well as input - try plugging headphones into the headphone socket on the mic to prove this theory. To resolve it, you need to go to system preferences (MAC) and select sound. There you will find an output and input selection. You may want to go to output and select the inbuilt speakers rather than the USB Audio CODEC.

To get sound in both channels in Garageband for a podcast using the G-Track Microphone: select a voice track to record into make sure the Track Info window is open (blue i button in lower right region of screen) at the bottom of the Track Info window you will find Input Source: Change the default setting of Stereo to Mono 1 (USB Audio CODEC)
This assumes you have gone to Garageband preferences and changed the Audio/Midi settings for audio input to USB Audio CODEC which appears when you plug in the G-Track

    Start herehttp://www.samsontech.com/products/produ...
scroll down to set up vid, follow the instructions, if it still does not work then call dealer or maker support line.

Go ahead and use the usb just for power, but try to plug it in to something other than your mac, like a usb power supply or a PC, and then run a 1/8" audio cable from the headphone jack on the right side of the mic to your audio input on your mac. If you still want to monitor as you record, you can buy a splitter for the headphone jack and run both a set of headphones AND your 1/8" audio cable from that. I've given it some thought, and I think it's better than the alternative of returning it and buying a pre-amp, a good quality mic, and a mixer for $300+

Gtrack doesn't work really well with mac.. it does with PC
you can restart your mac, and MAYBE it would fix the static noise, but JUST MAYBE. most of the time, it just doesn't do any good..
and if it does.. the noise will come back soon..
so, i'd say this Gtrack is not for mac..

Why does my computer tell me my cou1 mic has malfunctioned everytime I plug it into the usb port?

Sounds like a defective mic. Test it on another computer, with another USB cable, and if it still doesn't work, call customer service and they'll send a replacement.

Can a Samson g track mic be used with the new iPad?

Yes, but the iPad doesn't supply enough power for the G Track to run headphones, so you will need to use a powered hub between the mic and the iPad.

Whistling background noise with Samson C01U USB condenser mic

Welcome to the world of STUDIO microphones. Super quality BUT you must have a studio to use them. You can't have any local speaker playing into them. You often use headphones lest your monitor speakers will feedback. At the high frequency capability of these mics, you can fry your amps with oscillations above what you can hear!

Samson G-Track mic does not work with garageband effects

Look man just use the input as a way for your pre-amp's to plug in.... you don't want any of those built in guitar effects anyways... You just need a good multi pedal.. There are many good recording Pre-amps out there that work great and are fully adjustable for easy recording.. You can do what you want but, I think you will like the sound of pre-amp effects pedals in your computer set up....

Thats just a tip

Imac-samson-gtrack mic compatability

From the Samson Audio website...

"Ideal for the traveling musician or the project studio, the G-Track ships with a desktop mic stand, swivel stand mount, USB cable and all the cables needed to connect any musical instrument with a standard 1/4" or RCA output. The G-Track ships with Cakewalk's Sonar LE and works brilliantly with Apple's GarageBand."

If it states that it works with GarageBand, I would say that it would work on a mac.

No recording?

The static after several seconds seems like this is a problem with certain versions of OS X. You might be able to fix it by downgrading or upgrading. Apple Forums say that it's fixed in 10.5.6.

You can double check that this is the problem by trying it on a Windows computer.

Samson G-track

It's supposed to only record on the left side. When it's in "INST/MIC" mode the left channel has your mic on it and the right channel has your instrument, so you can mix them separately. Just configure your recording software to put the left channel on one track and the right channel on another track.

Samson G-track - Vista requiring to install USB Audio Codec

If the LED doesn't light when you plug it in, and it doesn't show up in Device Manager ("USB Composite Device" or "USB Audio Device"), then the mic must be defective. Contact Samson for a replacement.
