Possible failure within the camera, possible that the circuit board or connection has been damaged in the fall. If you notice any of these on close examination then it is important to open the camera to get an inside view , to test the circuit board, check if the main battery power comes to the main board- if there is any break of the battery line from the battery enclosure.
Is is most possible that the +B from the battery terminals is open due to the fall and must be checked.

When I plug in my nikon coolpix s3000 my computer says "Catastrophic error", any help?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa.

My Nikon wont turn on or charge

You may need to purchase a new battery for this. Or there could be a problem with your battery charger or power cord. Replacing the battery and charger is the simplest solution.

Something like this:

Good luck!

Hi My digital camera the Nikon coolpix s3000 kept flashing batter exhausted but it wont charge by the computer. How do i fix or charge my camera?

Not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries, especially if you're going through a hub. Try a different USB port if one is available. Otherwise, plug the supplied AC charger into a wall outlet and use that.
