I have a Model CTX18CASWRAD Hotpoint Refridgerator. The Freezer seems fine but the Refridgerator Section is not cool enough. I have it on maximum setting but it is not very cool.

If your refrigerator section is not cold enough at the normal setting you may have a problem.
If you can't find enough information at the link below resubmit your question and include the model number. It should be inside the refrigerator section. It's usually on the upper right wall.

Hi SN,

This could be a couple of things, but you should check for evaporator icing, even though you said the freezer is working and the defrost control appears to be ok. If the evaporator is iced up, no air willl flow into the fridge section even if the fan is running.

yes the freezer door not closing properly will effect the refrigerator. also check in the freezer back wall and bottom for any frost buildup. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.

• possible causes:

1. bad defrost timer
2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
3. bad thermo switch in freezer

If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. 

my refridgerator is not getting cold but the freezer seems to be working fine. can anybody please give me some advice on what this could be. We had a new defrost element put in a few weeks ago and we now have moved house so fridge is cool but not really cold enough model E402B any help would be appreciated.

sound like you said a sealed system problem if compressor is running check the black coil under ref by the fan and see if it is warm if not you have lost freon just trash it then if it is see if fan in freezer is running if so pull back cover in freezer and see if coil starts to freeze if you have a ice block on coil then it is a defrost problem good luck

If the compressor has a fan next to it, be sure it is running. if the relay is clicking every few minutes it may need to be replced. contact local parts distributor.
