KitchenAid Gas Range Model KGRT: Oven temp won't go past 260 degrees. When a higher temp is typed into keypad, it gives me an "err" mesage.

On a KitchenAid KGRT607,open door, then press and HOLD broil. The manual Says press cancel then 1,2,3 then broil. doesn't say "hold broil". The manual is wrong on my oven. all I have to do is Open door and hold broil. Here is the link to the manual. Go to Page 19:http://pdfstream.manualsonline.com/e/e26...

Replace the oven safety sensor located in the upper left corner of the oven cavity, its merely a thermocouple and cycles the temp in the oven and is easily replaceable, its a whirlpool part # AP3083985 available from most appliance parts stores that handle whirlpool parts,as this unit is produced by whirlpool corp. for kitchenaid corp.

Oven gives err message when set above 275 degrees

Your range has been reset to celsius from fahrenheit. It must be reset to fahrenheit.

Press bake and broil pads simultaneous for approximately 3 to 4 seconds.

When SF comes on, press the broil pad.

You should see the Letter C.

Press again and the letter F will come on.

Press start.

Your range shouldproperly set the temprature now!

I entered the "quick" option for self-cleaning my

It has a safety that will not allow the door to open while the temperature is high in the oven. oven temps can reach 700 degrees during the self clean cycle. allow the unit to cool completely and see if it works then. if not, let us know.

Gas over not lighting

It is likely that the ignitor needs to be replaced. If the range does not sense the proper amount of resistance in the ignitor, it will not turn on the gas valve for the lower burner. If the broiler is still working, it would further this thinking, as it has a separate ignitor.

Kitchenaid Superba Gas Range - Oven temperature problem

The problem is: the temp seems to be 'stuck' at 260 and will not allow any higher settings.

Calling KitchenAid proved to be unuseful. The manual did not have this item in the troubleshooting pages. Resetting the power does not help.

The SOLUTION:
There is really no problem besides that the temp display setting has been somehow set to be celsius (metric system) rather than farhenheit (english system). Changing this setting somehow can be easily touched off without knowing, thus the "I didn't do anything and yesterday it was working fine..." comment from family members.

The FIX:
Reset the temp display back to farhenheit (F). This is done by opening the oven door, then hold down the 'Broil' button until you hear a beep from the control panel. The same method may be used to change from Farhenheit back to Celsius.

Prevention:
I speculate the inavertent change of the temp setting is done while cleaning the flat control panel. So the best thing to do is to always 'LOCK' the control panel when cleaning the controls. This is done by holding down the keypad "3/lock" for a few seconds until the display shows LOCK.

(The solution was already posted when I arrived at this page. I just organized it a bit by adding some details and a preventative comment. Many thanks to those who posted earlier, solving my issue as well. I hope my writing presents a clearer and quicker read to the next person)
