Different manufacturers have different ways of updating their GPS devices. Assuming you own a Garmin GPS device, regardless of its model, here is how to update:

• To update your Garmin device, go to this linkhttps://my.garmin.com/maps/chooseDeviceType.htm?
• Select your device type.
• It will request to install the Gamin Communicator Plug-in.
• Make sure that you connect your Garmin device to the computer before proceeding to install.
• After the installation, it will automatically download for an updated map.

Note: Sometimes, there are no available updated maps.

To confirm if there are available maps, contact Garmin:

Hello. this company is out of business. There are no recent updates available. Consider replacing this GPS with a new one. I have a Garmin and I recommend it. It is excellent. Joe

The Garmin Maps require a map unlock code in order for the GPS to be able to open/access it. Since the maps are copyright protected by Garmin you should of recieved the unlock code from Garmin when you purchased the new map update.

NOT ALL GPS MAKERS OFFER MAP UPDATES, ONE THAT COMES TO MIND IS NEXTAR, SO IF THE WEB SITE OF THE MAKER OF YOUR GPS DOESN'T SHOW ANY AVIL UPDATES THEN MOST LIKELY THEY HAVE NOT RELEASED ANY.

my wife has got the maps on to computer but cant get them loaded onto the navman n40i what is she doing wrong to load to satnav.thanks dave

You can only update it(update the maps)if the company are offering them for your model. Go to their website to check. It doesnt sound hopeful tho if the model is obsolete. Some maps may work on more than one model so its worth checking. You won't find the maps anywhere else though.

These units are not updates all the time like one would think.. They will sale you new maps but updates to the current will come with the new maps.. Yes agreed a money making scheme but just think about this you do not have to pay for it monthly.. I bought on of these and had to pay for the maps and upgrades.. The thing about this you cannot prirate them because there going to sale it to you on a SD card.

i cant get maps of the world for free i am dissapointed as i baught this sat nav ystem from a local store in swansea the sales assistant told me that it would come with maps for europe thats hy i baught one of you products i am not happy as the sat nav only has british maps the company wont take back my nav now please help!!!
