Logitech usb headset problem

Sound not switching over to usb headset when playing game on windows vista. When we plug in the headset in our new windows vista computer, we can hear sound from the headset. But when we startup the counterstrike source game, the sound from the game is still coming out of the speakers that are built into the monitor.

I just went out and bought a new logitech headset for my computer because my old USB headset kicked the bucket. I'm running the 64 bit version of windows vista on my computer. My headset works just fine for vent, but when I try to run counterstrike source and tell it to output on the headset the sound continues to come out the speakers. Any suggestions?

Maybe you need to select which Audio device you are using within Skype. It the Settings under Audio you should be able to select the default audio device that Skype talks to. If you set it to the USB headset, it might work properly.

SOURCE: want to turn off logitech headset and turn on monitor speakers

I know this works on Windows XP:
Settings -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio Tab
Select your normal input/output from the dropdown list (not the one that says Logiteck USB headset)
Important step - Close the program you were trying to change the audio for, and open it again. It should work. If not, leave it for a minute and try again.

ClearChat Pro USB headset asks for driver upon install

  1. (Vista) Confirm your system restore point first. It needs to be prior to what you're going to attempt here. If it has a recent restore point, great, but if not, make a system restore before you do this, in case it doesn't work.
  2. In the Control Panel, click System, Advanced System Settings, click System Protection, and click System Restore.
  3. (Optional) Try updating your usb drivers before trying the final step, reinstalling the Vista Service Pack 2.
  4. Here's how to verify if your USB (drivers) in the Device Manager are up to date.
  5. Open the Control Panel, System, Device Manager.
  6. Open the Universal Serial Bus controllers (usually at the bottom of the device list).
  7. Right-click, on your first USB, Updating Driver Software. It will look for the update or let you know (which may take a bit of time) that it is up to date already. Repeat this process on all the USB devices.
  8. If that doesn't work, try this: plug in your headset, and keep it plugged into the usb.
  9. In your Windows Updates, re-install the Service Pack 2. After Vista reboots your computer and finishes the install, unplug your headset from the USB and then replug it in. What you are likely to see is a Windows message indicating that it sees the software and is installing it (minus the windows pop-up message of "where's the driver disc for it?").
  10. Now the trick is to get the headset to play the microphone through the speakers appropriately!

Lose webcam connection in Skype when using a headset

Have you checked the recording settings in Windows and in Skype? Try changing the default recording device to specifically indicate the device that has your headset plugged. I think the webcam also has a mic and that should not be selected.

Other thing to check is if there is some kind of resource conflict between your USB controller and audio card (use Device Manager).
