Your phone is set on handset mode. While playing music, press the blackberry button and select the activate speakerphone option on the list. This would work for you.

Chances are the speaker is dead. They can be replaced. But I suggest taking it back to where you bought it and trying to exchange it. Phones do have a mfg warranty on them.

My BB Bold remains in the headphones plug in mode even after I my handsfree ear piece has been ejected from the socket. I cannot hear or talk to other party unless I put the ear piece back in the socket...

Press the BlackBerry button when you're in the music player.
Go to Activate handset.
That should allow you to play your music from the BlackBerry's speakers.

When trying to select any on the ring tones - it says invalid tone

Hi

If the ringtone files were downloaded to your phone, then information regarding their format (file type) would've helped. However, if this is the case, it is possible that the file format is not supported by the Blackberry 9700.

You can goto your music library, highlight the file you want as your ringtone and then press then MENU button followed by selecting PROPERTIES. This would provide you with information regarding the type of the file.

As for your solution, you may have to either restart your phone (Shift+Alt+Del) OR if you're using a SD Card, hook it up to your PC, verify you still have music files on your phone and then disconnect when there are no read/write processes occuring.

3) Remove phone battery.
4) Reinstall battery and let phone restart.
5) Remove headset.
