Make sure the UMD is not dirty or scratch or damage in any way. make sure the lens is clean. if your psp is able to read other UMD's then it would mean that the UMD is damaged. if PSP is not able to read other UMD's then you would need to get the lens replaced.

WHen I turn on my PSP I get a yellow screen/Menu. It has Settings, Camera, Music, Video etc. How do I exit this to play a game?

This is the XMB its the main menu of the system. Games will be located under the Controller Icon. To play games insert a UMD, or if a game is downloaded and saved on the memory card, go through the icons under Controller icon. A disk icon will appear and show a preview screen to the game, press X to start the game.

Cannot load umd games

If you have custom firmware, make sure your "execute boot.bin" and "plain modules" are both disabled under your advanced configuration settings of the recovery menu. Also, make sure your ISO/CSO games are saved in the ISO Folder of your memory stick and that your UMD MODE is set to NO UMD REQUIRED. Your PBP Games should be saved in your PSP/GAME Folder.

Psp always read from umd, making it hang

Hi! I incounter this problem as well even without UMD its still loading and even I disable auto-start UMD still same so I tried reflashing the software but still same problem so I discover the solution before you turn-on your PSP try to open your UMD cover you'll see it will load faster then close again the cover once you see the battery and clock icon... The problem that causing this is the switch inside the UMD possible its stock-up or spoiled already!

PSP Slim making click sounds when UMD is in

it could be a problem with the inside mechanisms of the UMD dock. Better make sure that the insides are clean and free of dirt or small particles.
