The needle shaft sticks to the curved arm and won't come down because a piece of plastic, about an eighth of an inch thick had broken from age. It prevented the shaft from staying up on the needle arm. Open the cover, try to stitch decorative stitch and see what I mean. Purchase a package of 4-10 by 1/2 nut and bolt pack. Screw the nut all the way onto the bolt. Using needle-nosed plyers, Carefully bend the curved arm slightly, and place bolt into the hole on the top of the needle shaft. Nut will keep it in place. Lowering the needle shaft using wheel, carefully bend arm back in place. Try decorative stitch. It should work. It does for me.

I looked at the little cards that came with mine (plastic see thru cards) after choosing the design pattern and putting on the correct foot (T). It said to lower needle into starting spot (bottom left corner of design) then push start. I played with mine a bit to get it to work. I also noticed that if I carefully gave the needle arm a very slight push down on the screw that you tighten to hold in the needle, it seemed to give it a little jump start. My machine is the Professional XL-150 which I do NOT have the manual for ., but everything refers me to the CXL model as the same.

Cxl manual

User's Manuals, including yours, are available as a free download the Singer Sewing Machine website. Actually, when you enter CXL you get the XL-50 user's manual, which is essentially the same machine, although a few of the patterns may be different. The CXL, XL-50, XL-10 and XL-1 are basically the same machine; I own a CXL and XL-50, and love them. They can sew SIDEWAYS--straight AND zigzag stitch!

Change the fuse in the plug failing that it could be the inline fuse inside the machine normally near where you plug the lead in, if youcan get to that it is a matter of changing it, and the Hoop must be detachedwhen powering on! Otherwise it will not start. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

Quantum CXL The needle will not pick up bobbin thread. seems to hit medal. It is not a 1000 model It was bought 11-01-95.

Your shuttle timing is out, this will need a qualified mechanic to fix it, it is to complicated to explain, as the needle timing may also be out.l

Flashing red light

Are you sure you have turned the foot button underneath the machine back to normal stiching and also then again for embroidary and have you placed the protective cover back for normal stiching once you removed the embroidary arm.
