To change the battery on your Night Owl Explorer NOCX3 monocular, you will need to follow these steps:

1. Unscrew the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the monocular 1.
2. Remove the old battery from the compartment 1.
3. Insert a new 3-volt lithium battery (123 type), which is also known as the CR 123A, EL 123AP or DL 123A 1.
4. Screw the battery compartment cover back into place 1.

Please note that some models of Night Owl Explorer use 2 standard AA batteries instead of a 3-volt lithium battery 1.

Here is the problem with Night Owl Optics, ATN, Bushnell, Zenith, Night Vision, and many others US companies that uses foriegn companies to manufacture there cheaper NV devises.

Your Night Owl Binocular has two: ccfl inverters, voltage multipliers, controler and image intensifier tubes. They are manufactured in Russia. 80-90% problems are the image intensifier tubes, they are not the best in the world and they can't take a lot abuse.

Call Night Owl Optics in El Paso, TX. and ask them what will it cost to repair you binoculars.

How does your Night Owl keep telling you that you have limited authority. Does you Night Owl have a liquid crystal screen, or does it have a phone system that you can communicate with you NV optics, How!!

Don't worry about it. If you called Night Owl in El Paso, TX. and started communicating with voice activated phone system. There are certain parameters that are off limits to the general public. There used by the employee's of Night Owl.

If you going to ask Night Owl for parts other than, lens covers, Optic lens and may a few parts for the lens or IR and operation manuals. They might sell these parts to you. Any thing else is called "proprietary". Short and sweet, it's their secret. sorry.
